Re: Team 25's Robot

There's a small dead zone, one way or the other, but for the most part, we can go wherever needed with the turret. The tires are connected with a belt as part of the mechanism we use to climb onto the platform. See how the robot angles in at the back? The treads catch onto the platform there, pulling us up. Aside from that, the tires are similar to last year's tires. We'll get you some more pictures as soon as possible, and it's a week till the New Jersey Regional. Good luck, all!

Re: Team 25's Robot

This is the first 25 robot in a long while with no diamond plate.. I guess that monster of an arm is too heavy to afford any plate.. Nice idea of running treads along your drive, *wink wink*- Do you guys have any trouble running around at +14 fps with that arm?

Re: Team 25's Robot

Love the tele-robot arm controller! Are the little levers under the front (?) of the robot to lift yourself up onto the platform? Looks like a great piece of engineering, team 25. Can't wait to see it in person next week.

Re: Team 25's Robot

The controller was literally finished 2 days ago. LOL. The arm can turn approximately 350ish degrees- just short of the full 360. The wires are wrapped up to prevent the gears from chewing into them as well as preventing them from getting wrapped around the arm in a crazy fashion.

The reason the arm can't turn its waist the full 360 is due to the limitations on the POTs we used- they don't read a full circle. We have the controller and arm POTs with their deadzones in the same place, right where we'll never need the arm, at an odd angle that the base driver can compensate for in a split second.

Keep the comments and questions coming.

Yea rich, those serve as wheelie bars.

As for the diamond plate- last year was the only year we ever used diamond plate armor. The armor on this robot isn't quite as strong, but nearly so. Don't think we won't take a few hits without trouble. ;-)

Re: Team 25's Robot

Just a quick question:

On your robot I see three joints, two sections of the arm and then one that looks to pivot the claw, but on your controller there are only two joints. Is that joint controlled somewhere else?

the 3 joint you are talking about is at the wrist but it really is not a joint. it keeps the fingers fixed at 180 degrees so no matter where the arm is the fingers arm at the same point. At that piont is also a motor that opens and closes the fingers.

Re: Team 25's Robot

Congrats for outdoing yourselves for Scariest Looking Robot Appendage! I didn’t think you could top the scissors arm from last year. Looks like you could just reach over the opposing alliance station and snatch up their drivers

Can you guys hang from the floor?

Well I can’t wait to see that controls system and arm up close at NJ next week (hopefully not too closely )

Yes, we can hang from the floor. The arm is stable enough.
