one thing I learned this year;
is that punctuation is important;
and if you fail to use it properly;
you get errors; /*mistakes*/

Very funny Yan...

I learned to not have so many things to do during build season. Really let my team down. But we still got everything done; so it's good.

1.) Check the top of the drill press before using
2.) Clamp down aluminum while using box (mitre) saw

(I have a thumb to show for both...)

don't stand in line with the garage door spring when people are trying to take it off.

And, um, don't start putting 13 hour days in until you have to, or otherwise you will be wanting to go home at 6 on the night before ship. And your grades will look like you've had a serious case of senioritis.

To start planning far far ahead when creating an animation and start making objects that's not dependent on what the game is.

Re: One thing you learnt this season

I learned that staying as late as anyone and not leaving until the very latest (~ 12 the 2nd to last week, ~2 the last week) was the best thing that ever happened in my entire life. Yes, my grades did die, and yes, my body did die, but I grew more than ever before.

I'll drink to that! This build period has been terribly exhausting, but I had a great time and helped build a machine that I'm really proud of (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/pi...gle&picid=6603, if anyone's interested).

Things I learned this year:
-It is possible for one person to drink 10 liters of caffeinated soda within 1.5 weeks.
-The hammer is more versatile than it appears.
-Safety goggles cast an invisible field of protection surrounding the wearer.
-The bandsaw conquers all.
-Snickers + Mountain Dew = the true breakfast of champions
-Batteries work better when charged.
-FIRST is not an acceptable excuse for a one-week delay in handing in an 8,000-word senior research paper.

I've taught you well my son.

This year I learnt the joys of officially mentoring. Not only do you get to exercise the iron fist of power, but you get to influence the little things in their lives sometimes too. I'm proud to know that he'll never fall asleep in class again as long as he eats his balanced breakfast of dew and snickers.

Hmmmm....I wonder if you could make that into a smoothie?

Oh yeah! I also learnt that if you absolutely need it here tomorrow and you pay extra double super expensive shipping and pray to the UPS gods - you will not get your order until a week later! And if you do get it on time, it's going to be steel instead of aluminum.

I learned that generalbrando's picture, check it out, might be one of the better funny FIRST pictures I've seen this year. It was my computer background for like 3 weeks.

One thing I learnt in the preseason - posting interesting pictures of oneself or antagonizing someone into pasting your head on a famous person's body (coughbillgatescough) is just good fun on CD. If you got a laugh out of my picture, don't feel bad - it means you're normal.
