Speed Test!
I'm the Webmaster for www.chaos131.com and it seems that our server might be running a bit slow.
I would appreciate it if you could visit our site and give me a bit of info back about how fast it loaded (if at all ).All input is greatly appreciated! -Matt |

Re: Speed Test!
It came right up for me, about two to three seconds. I'll also tell you I'm connecting through a LAN to a broadband cable modem.

Re: Speed Test!
or use one of the most well-known free dns sites out there, www.dyndns.org
as for the site itself... matt, you see that nice big text to the left of the pictures on the front page (the quote by kelso)? there's no need for that to be an image, and text loads a heck of a lot faster. the buttons up top are each a different image, but you could just make one background image and then put text on top of each one. for the pictures down at the bottom (the links to the photos, acrobat reader, email, and kickoff), the GIF file format would probably work better, because the images are mostly large blocks of single colors, rather than photo-type images. finally, the "history" page is so chock full of images it isn't even funny - you could probably make most of the images into text, and it would be simpler to read as well. that's my $.02 of constructive criticism ![]() Last edited by deltacoder1020 : 02-03-2004 at 11:11. |

Re: Speed Test!
Thanks for the input everyone! Brandon, I completely forgot about the website forum (I was trying to finish up homework, brush my teeth and post on CD at the same time this morning) sorry.
I have considered taking away some of the images from the site, its just with images I know they will display the same on almost every system. Has anyone experienced REALLY slow load times (something over 5 or 6 seconds)? Thanks again, Matt |
