Go to Post Joe is a great sport and this was a good moral booster after a grueling weekend. How many opportunities do you get to play William Tell with a Regional WFA Winner? :) - The Lucas [more]

Re: Good Movies to Watch

Well, since this is for a trip, that kinda rules out some of the best-made films like American History X, Requiem for a Dream, or Shawshank Redemption - those aren't really sitting-on-a-bus-and-watch movies. You need one of those movies without too much of a real in-depth plot - I'd suggest the classic Pulp Fiction, but somehow I doubt that would fly with your teachors or advisors.

LotR, maybe, but the bus ride would kinda ruin the atmosphere. I'd suggest (like many other before) Pirates and Holy Grail. Ocean's 11 would also be a good choice. Dr. Strangelove is a classic, but if you don't have a lot of crazy global-dictator still-living-in-the-cold-war-era type of students, most of the bus will be crying to turn it off. Robin Hood: Men in Tights or History of the World Part I are good for some cheap laughs (Spaceballs is good, but not funny after the first time), and Shrek and Finding Nemo are always good fall-backs. Of course if you've completely given up on finding a movie with any sort of decent plot at all, you can always turn on Starship Troopers.

I love Shawshank and American History X there both really good movies. But like you said our coaches wouldn't approve it. But I'll take the other ones in considernation(sp)

Re: Good Movies to Watch

Movies we have veiwed on the bus trip the last couple of years is Princess Mononoke(one of my all time favorites), Orange County (not as bad as I thought it would be), Cool Runnings (a very good film to inspire your team for FIRST because it's about going the distance in spite of your level of talent or whether or not you belong and succeding whether you win or not) Monty Python and the Holy Grail(an all time classic), Remember the Titans(not as agonizing as I thought it would be), Patch Adams(pure agony. Next time they show it I'm jumping off the bus), Warriors of the Wind(AKA NAusica, Valley of the Wind, the so-called butchered American version. It's still great).
This year we have Drumline(way cool, if simle movie) Signs (Good scary fun), Minority Report (an underrated Spilberg film), WHo Framed Roger Rabbit(an all-time classic), Raiders of the Lost Ark(Spielberg at his best) and Appollo 13(great film. even if you still know how it ends). The kids will bring some of their own movies too. So long as it isn't R rated (it's a school trip).
I'm bringing my own DVDs to watch on my wife's laptop. Read or Die, Cowboy Bebop the Movie and the series, Gross Point Blank, Memento, The Frighteners (What Peter Jackson did before LOTR), and Akira.
I plan on leaving the hotel room anyways in CLeveland. I had enough of the Rock n' Roll HOF.

Re: Good Movies to Watch

I happen to like MP's Life of Brian, Dumb and Dumber, The Legend of Drunken Master (Jackie Chan!), Austin Powers, Black Sheep. Movies like that are great for bus trips.

I happen to like A Walk to Remember. It's really sad, but I like it nevertheless. I am not a big movie watcher though

I'm glad to see someone finally mention Airplane. Airplane and Airplane II have got to be my favorite movies of all time. You have to watch them 2 or 3 times so you could pick up all the small stuff. Even the Naked Gun ones are good too. Dumb and Dumber and Space Balls are good too. I personally lean towards comedy.

[quote]EddieMcd "You fans of Buffy and Angel will like it too. It's done by Joss Whedon."

I'm a huge Buffy fan and wouldn't mind watching Buffy episodes all day. I've never seen Firefly though. I have Buffy on DVD and I also have the first season of LaFemme Nikita (the USA network series) on DVD. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Peta Wilson are my favorite actresses.
