Re: 3D Model Showcase

I take criticism from people I know and whose opinions i respect.

I do not believe that building exists. I worked from a picture which seemed to be a painting. I did make changes in several places, but no I did not make it up. It was an exercise in architectural visualization, so i took a concept and then.. added an extra dimension. It took me about 36 hours and I did not scan the picture and model the parts as they appeared exactly in the image. I just had this little picture in my hand basically and worked 'freehand' for lack of a better word.

Re: 3D Model Showcase

well, after redoing this car about 4 times already, I find that Box modelling is the way to go. when you extrude by the same increments each time, you get a consistency that would take at least 10x the amount of time if you spline model it. I know with the enzo, you need that consistency for the front to fit perfectly in all the views, or you'll have it perfect in one and suck in the other. anyway, i always find myself Poly-splining it, so to speak. ill make the cage, then go back and poly model parts i dont like to get it perfect. It all depends on what you like.

to thetadot, it's good to have people to criticize your work, whether they know alot or nothing, or are good at max or not, you cant judge your own work. You'll always find things wrong with it, or you'll think its perfect when theres so much more you can do to make it better.

Re: 3D Model Showcase

Theta and Paul...If your models are for real I am amazed at your skill. Also Salik does have a point about your person face looking a bit weird. The ears look fine but the eyes are too narrow. But the eyes are the right distance apart from each other. Also the head has a shape that is too slanty. It looks like \ The face juts out at the bottom. But it is the best looking head that i have every seen a student make. I think students aren't skilled enough to use humans in their animation because they are one of the most difficult things to make. Not only do they have to look good but they have to be animated well. With a few adjustments and a body for the head, and of course a good skeletal rig and good animation skills you could prove me and everyone wrong. Since the deadline for the animation is past, I'd like to see you do a out of FIRST project and really excel at 3d art.

Re: 3D Model Showcase

Paul your enzo is very professional looking. It's so NIce and smooth. Almost looks like a concept model. I'd like it even more if it were a better looking car tho. I perfer more conventional cars than crazy exotic ones.

Re: 3D Model Showcase

did you create a spline cage, then used patches?
the trouble i get into when i attempt @ modelign a car is setting up the blueprints. They never seem to match up.
i'm currently working on a porsche carrera gt 2004, and there are some details that dont match up. Or maybe i'm not setting up the images right.
Can anyone see what i'm doing wrong?
I first create three planes that are the same size as the ref images, i convert those into polgyons and create a new face on the back. That way, i can have both the rear and front side ref images on one plane. Then i usually create some guidelines just to make sure certain details match up.
Like so: here
Maybe the blueprints aren't detailed enough or accurate...

The farthest i've gotten is this
any suggestions?

Re: 3D Model Showcase

nice job paul...looks improved............I especailly like the rims they are just about perfect .......... it still look dif to me than the real Enzo....maybe cuz there are no headlights / windshield yet.......i guess i am a tuff judge cuz i am a car enthusiast..
There are supposed to be air dams on the hood of the car...that is the probly the problem...also the rear parts near the wheels are more well defined a lot like the front ones..

: here is a pic:

kcy88.....ur blue prints look ok 2 me....what i like to do with my cars i just spline cage out each panel of the car then combine them all

wow, salik is that ferrari your creation. Why have you been holding back? The Zonda doesn't reach the level of skill that you used to create Enzo.

Re: 3D Model Showcase

Since I saw a LEGO model earlier, I'll show one of mine. I could only get one of the views in here, but it's an example.

--EDIT--
Oh, yeah, my avatar has the front view of it. Of course, there is that apple in front of it...

--EDIT--
This pic isn't the best one.
