Re: UCF regional 2004 update

I understand that yea, you wanna stop us from catching the balls... but yea... it's kind've annoying in the pits to work on that. However, we have come up with a better way for our next regional to stop that. But yea, for finals... I pray that we are chosen by a team that can knock off the 10 point ball in autonomous, or else just.... it'll hurt. However, today we've had no teams that can hit that 10 pt. ball which causes a problem, if we had that.... we'd be good. We'll have our rollers working tommorow morning efficiently to get all those balls out (we've had a binding problem, we couldn't test it before shipping cause they sent us the wrong balls and all which caused all these binding problems)

Re: UCF regional 2004 update

Yeah, I'll be glad to see you guys running at full power, so to speak. I really want to see a human player get a chance to fire 16-18 balls in succession. Regardless, you have had pretty poor luck with your partner's autonomous (spelling?) modes, but that's just luck of the draw. If you guys get that ejection mechanism fixed, you'll be golden.

On a side note, wasn't it kinda interesting that they stopped projecting the rankings after mid-day? Soap108 has the unoffical ones, but do you know anything about what happened to the official rankings?

A problem occured with displaying them at mid-day. Whenever they tried getting it up to display it errord and restarted. So they had to shut it off for the day, but the ones on Soap108's website are correct. FIRST is working on a patch this evening up in NH and is uploading it to the regional tommorow morning so it'll be working again tommorow.

Re: UCF regional 2004 update

UCF regional was AWEEEESOOOMEEE.... it was so much fun...

First of all i would like to congrats all the teams... all the teams were great... i was very surprised by performance of the rookie teams this year... they were very inspiriing... some great robots like... 945, 233, 61, 311, 179, 312, 180, 762, 665, 79 did an AWESOME job... this was probably one of the best regional which would be happening this year. And ofcourse you cant forget the spirit of combat, swamp and S... P... A... M... SPAM SPAM SPAM!!!... i would like to thank Kenny Ardizone for all the times that he put in for FIRST... he deserved the woodie flower's award... now that i have seen these 41 robots... i cant wait till i get to Nationals... which is going to be awesome... now ofcourse we gotta show FIRST that what florida teams can do...

I would like to thank swampthing, spam and PAW... they were there anytime that i needed their help... thank you so much Tytus (swampthing), Amanda (swampthing), Gary (Spam), Tiffany (spam), Mr. Higgins (Spam), Peter (paw), Dan (paw), Ryan (paw) ... i dont remember of them saying no to anything that i have asked throughout these three days... just like the practice day when we found out that we were 137 lbs... they all were there to help us and we got it down to 125.6 lbs...

The time passed by so fast that i didnt even realize i was there for 3 days competing... i would like to wish all teams good luck and our best for their coming up regionals and nationals... we are going to have a good time this year...

thanks to all the teams that made this competion so much fun, 179 had a great time, so much more than last year, and so many had so much to say about our robot, it was just awesome to see, i cant wait until nationals and i know our driver cant either, hopefully all of our teams wounds will be fixed by then, the pucshing matches gave the bot some artistic battle wounds, nothing bad though, tech tigers, you rock, thanks for everything, SPAM you were all great, thanks for helping us fix the wheel it was finished so quickly i felt like i was part of a pit crew for nascar, if we only couldve done that eariler, 1083 one thing... ohh wait thats two, wonderful strategy ya'll make me smile! well i am extremely tired after these two days happy to be home but miss competition!

Re: UCF regional 2004 update

So tired.

Well, 108 didnt looktoo good on thursday/friday, but we got our act together closer towards the end. Anyone going to be seeing us at Midwest or Atlanta, expect to see a more reliable drivetrain from us. We're transistioning our belt drive to chains. That should fix the very noticeable slipping problem while turning. Once thats done, watch out!

UCF teams: Awesome job everyone.
179- Yall really showed what 2 weeks of practice does. The robot did what it needed and ya drove it great.
233- Awesoe robot, that hanging feature was amazing. Just try and figure out who's attending the regionals for finals next time
79- I needed new grippers after you guys

Re: UCF regional 2004 update

The competition was Intense all week, Happy to say that our robot performed awesomely until our SemiFinals match where one of the solder joints on the drill motor decided it didnt want to hold anymore and caused our robot to drive erractically. HUUUUUUGE Thanks to 179 for picking us and 180 for givin it thier all, watch out Annapolis cause the holonomic bot from orlando is headin your way!

Re: UCF regional 2004 update

Having ties without tie breakers adds a new level of suspense to an exciting finals at a FIRST competition. That finals at UCF was awesome. I only wish we'd thought to mount our radio in a less vulnerable location so we could have won or lost, or tied that fourth match fighting to the end. Anyway, it was an awesome finals, and 2nd place isn't bad.

Many thanks to Teams 311 and 1144 who helped make it happen. You guys were great partners.
