Is FIRST slowing down with it's updates!

Hey!

Today is the last day for the second week of Regional Competitions and as I search on FIRST's site for results at the regionals I only see 1 link for awards won under the BAE / VCU Regional. and nothing else has links. e.g. Standings / Match REsults etc...) I would have thought by now that the First weeks events would have been posted by now.

Anyone else notice the slow down.

P.S. if there is another thread with this then close it and I'll locate the similar thread and post there.

Edit to Above post Yeah at the NJ Regional they had a couple of standings issues as well as a lil scoring problem. Which is what delayed the alliance picking b/c the computer wasn't doing the standings correctly. The people working the NJ Regional said that the first week of competitions would find any bugs with the scoring system and that by the second round of competitions it would be fixed :-( something tells me this will be a rather fast yet seem like a slow season.

Re: Is FIRST slowing down with it's updates!

I don't know how much help this provides, but I noticed at the BAE Granite state regional, they sometimes had problems displaying the scores... It's almost as if they were having software problems with the scoring because even though the majority of the matches worked well, there were still a few teams that did not know what the score was for a match or two (138 included)

I'm really wondering what's taking so long because I need to study up on what went right/wrong with our robot, and the other finalists' 'bots... so if anybody knows if there is an independent that has all the match results, that would be awesome ... if not, thanks for your time anyways

FIRST completely rewrote the scoring software from last year, and are still working out major bugs, which is why there is a lack of updates.

Slow down? More like a freeze out.
What's so different this year when information was so free flowing that there is almost none this year? They still don't list the awards from New Jersey! I know somebody was there. Can't they get the information form the teams? This isn't just about being nosy but it is actually a tool for scouting. Could someone please figure out what's the problem?

Results needed for more than just us!

Accurate, official competition and award results are needed for more than just the participants. They are essential to give FIRST the respect that will draw media attention. For example, say I call up the paper and say we did great last weekend. They take down the information, then ask questions about the other local teams. I can't answer or even point them to a source for the information. Neither can they double check the facts or even verify spelling very easily.

Last year was much better, now we're back to 2002 and before. Once again, family members, sponsors, and the media are left virtually in the dark until someone calls or returns home.

I'd really like to see award results along with the the Judges' comments, match results, and key statistics, and similar information published as soon as possible. Even a basic press release listing award winners and rankings would really help the press give us the coverage that we think should be there. If the goal is to change society, we should be media freindly, not the reverse.

I recognize that FIRST does a tremendous job, and I am in awe of what they accomplish, but I really think this should be a priority, not an after-thought.

It's exactly 10P where i'm at now and I'm trying to connect to FIRST's site and seems to me it's down or my ISP is playing head games with me. Anyone else having an issue to connecting to FIRST and if it is difficult to get their site could they be upgrading it or at least regional information.

It's up and they still don't have the list of awards from New Jersey!

Re: Is FIRST slowing down with it's updates!

at least you guys are getting something. I tried pinging the website but too no success 4 tries were timed out. I think maybe my router and ISP or messing with me b/c i was able to visit it last nite

oh well from what koko just posted i'm not missing that much action :-( i can understand that it takes time to post things but the second set of regionals are done with. with no results from the 1st set even posted excepted spotty awards link which is like every other regional.

I think the only thing we can do is sit back and wait. unless dave knows something we don't ! :-) Any news on the holdup of info Dave you can PM it to me I won't tell no one I promise
