I was watching the KSC regional and saw the extensive usage of mouse bots.
Then it occured to me that you could whip yourselves up a cat bot on thursday of regionals. essentially a cat bot would run around, catch the other mouse bots and bring them back to your home zone. Perhaps then, people would realize the dominating effect of cat bots and proceed to make themselves dogbots for the next competition. This will then eventually spiral into such a loop that we will have 30 lb robots with 100 lb dogbots chasing after each other. Dreaming? maybe... But it was a funny thought at the time. |

but then again, you go back to the original concept of, why not make a rat-bot salvaging device on your real robot? Nobody really came up with this, but what'd be the ruling is a team came up with a device that kidnap ( or rather, rat nap? forgive the stupid pun) and bring them to their own scoring position for additional points? Would that still count as 10 pts?

It would be legal to capture the rat, with the same rules as capturing a normal robot. However, actually geting it be usefull in a match is another question. Most teams (at least at KSC) deployed their "rats" in the last seconds, often a few seconds to late to make it all the way. I think it would be impossible to make a devide to capture it and get it all the way back to your zone. It would even be extremely difficult.
However, you would be looking at a creativity or other design award ![]() |
