Talking Re: UPDATE: AZ Regional

The Arizona Regional was so awesome. We won the Engineering Inspiration Award, and are so excited. The team from Mexcio City that we mentored won the Judges Award, which was so cool. They totally deserved it. Our head mentor Fredi Lajvardi won the Arizona Regional Teacher Award. It was auch an honor to have our teacher honored.

Re: UPDATE: AZ Regional

So I have been out of the country for the last week and this is my first chance to reply on this thread.

First off I want to say I was totally impressed with team 980. This team not only had an amazing bot, but was an one of the most friendly teams I have ever dealt with. Every question I had was answered by students, and several different ones at that. GREAT JOB guys! In just a few short years you have become a west coast powerhouse, something I always thought took atleast 5 or 6 years to get done.
In the semi finals this team was even heads up enough to get down off the bar with 4 teams hanging because they realzied that even with the bar points the alliance didn't have enough balls to win. That kind of quick thinking under pessure is what will win you regional and national championship. Good luck with the rest of your regionals and nationals team 980

Team 60 was amazing. When I comp was announced I didn't think anyone would design a robot that does EVERYTHING well. Boy was I wrong. This team is very good at all asspects of the game.

Team 1212 had to have the best shirts of the comp with "Its all temporary........unless it works" This has to be the perfect first moto!

Finally I have don't know if anyone from this team reads these forums or not, but I want to give a HUGE thank you to team 861. After a whole lot of work and politics on thursday and friday you were a breath of fresh air. Once I stepped back a little and got away from all the behind the scenes stuff and worked with your team I realized exactly what FIRST is all about. Your team inspired ME. Thank you very much for showing me why I love first and why I will be back next year.

I had a great time, thank you for everyone envolved!

Congrats on doing so well and I wish you the best as you continue to compete this year. Your team was SOOO nice to us at IRI and I'm glad I got a chance to meet you! I hope you can come back again this summer to Indiana!

Congrats!
Hi Libby,

It was great to see Scott and all of Team 234 again. It was also very exciting competing with 234 for first place. We were hoping to pick Team 60 ourselves as we have never been teamed up with them, and they have helped us a lot beginning back in 2002 when Glenn came to LA to teach all us rookies about drive trains.

The excitment never let up. After 234 moved into first place, we were even calculating how many points we would have to give our opponents to take back first again.

As it was, we were excited to be able to pick Teams 190 and 1011 and it looked like we might meet up with Teams 234, 60 and 898 as opponents for a very exciting finals. However some other teams had other ideas and it was not to be. Congrats to the winners and runners-up.

Thank you to the Arizona Regional Planning Committee for an awesome event. The Arizona Regional rules.

And Libby, thanks for the invite to IRI. IRI was one of the best experiences that our team has ever had, and if there is any way that we can pull it off, we'll see you again this year.
