Chesapeake Congrats

Congrats to all of the Chesapeake competitors, especially to 1391 on your Judge's Award! I know 103 mentor and Westtown alum PeteK is very proud today.
To 222 and 303 - Excellent run. You guys always do the Mid-Atlantic states proud.
To 25 - It was awesome to hear that you won the Engineering Inspiration Award.

All in all, it seems as though Chesapeake was an awesome event. Having the winning alliance contain a rookie captain (1405) and one of the most storied teams in FIRST history (16) speaks volumes for what happened this weekend.

Thanks, Rich!

I was talking to some of the students on 1405. They built their robot essentially in a room not bigger than a normal classroom with handtools and some powertools. It was really an incredible story to hear. Amazing job, 1405! And congratulations to everyone that participated at the Chesapeake Regional!

Umm, Thanks Rich!! too i guess...lol
Seriously though, thanks. We did our best and walked away with two technical awards and a second place. The finals had to be the best in the country according to Blair (the man). It was great fun. See the cybersonics @ Philly right??

Also amazing job to 1405 rookies and regional winners amazing. Good luck in all other events this year, *again hopes they are going to philly*

See everyone there!!

The robot was built in a woodshop. When we started, all the tools that were availible was a drill press and a variety of wood tools, which were little use to us. We purchased a band saw, and several parents brought in drills, but that was it for power tools. All the hand tools we used were purchased in the second week.

Almost all the parts on the robot are from either Home Depot or someone's garage. The plow was built from scraps left from someone's remodeling. The pully on the arm was the one of the Physic's teacher's demonstrations. The cable we hung from was part of a dog tie-out. The hook (3/8" steel rod) was bent using a very long lever arm, and then welded in one of the student's garages.

I'm truely amazed that they did so well. I knew they would be an average to above average hanger, but was praying that they wouldn't get broken in all the bashing around.

Congratulations, everyone!
