Too bad the PeachTree Regional Webcast was not working. I would have liked to see how well Team 1371 mocked our team... just kidding. I guess we are going to add a new motto, "Team 233: Original PINK" or something similar to that affect. Does anybody know if they will be at Nationals? I cannot find a picture of their team, I want to see which robot is brighter. We might have a friendly showdown.

We are trying to target 10 seconds to get us to hang. It just depends on how long the robot goes into a seizure whenever we get up on the platform. It looks awful getting up there but it works.

---------------

Team #21 (ComBBAT) has so much potential, if it was not for their device that dispenses their balls.

Team #79 (The Navigators (KRUNCH)) also has a lot of potential, if they can fix that arm to get them hanging. Right now, I would give them the "Best in your face" Robot Award. They do an awesome job giving teams a difficult time to do their stuff.

I wish both of them the best of luck in fixing their robots; preferably before Nationals.

Re: coolest robots

It seems everyone has been rating a robot's coolness factor by its effectivenes in some or all aspects of the game. How about a robot that's just plain coll? My vote goes to team 79, the Navigators, and their robot, Capt. Krunch. With its omnidirectional steering ability and high speed (up to 15 ft/sec), just watching Capt. Krunch move was a thrill. I mean this bot was just plain WICKED fast. And if you want POWER, it could win just about any pushing match.

What time is it? KRUNCH TIME!

Disclaimer: To anyone on team 79, I did not mean to imply that your robot was ineffecient, I just wanted to stress certain aspects. You guys rock, and l look forward to seeing Capt. Krunch at Nationals in Ga.

Re: coolest robots

when we first saw team 1114's bot (General Motors of Canada St. Catharines Engine & Governor Simcoe Secondary School) our whole team stood there with our mouths open

and someone finally said "did you SEE THAT" did you see what it just did?

the bot has crab steering, and to get up on the platform it lifts the frame with pnuematics, slides over onto it, then lifts its wheels

very impressive - and BTW they were also chosen by 211 to be alliance parteners with us at pittsburg, and we ended up being finalists.

Re: coolest robots

233: The coolest robot I've seen thus far has got to be Roccobot, Team 233: THINK PINK's robot. It's a very efficient hanger and not to mention it's very very slick looking. Awesome aliance partners.

267: Another team that I thought was worth point out was Team 267 The Demolition Squad. They had a wicked vaccum suction system for the 2x ball. I wish it would've worked better. It was a really really cool design.

179: Wow.. This team was amazing. Great at capping, and had really awesome Autonomous modes. I wish I would have got to see their haning system work at UCF though.

1083: The best ball handler I've seen so far. It works beautifly with an awesome holomonic drive system.

1144: VERY Energetic team with a very cool robot, that can cap, and gather the small balls. They were awesome to watch and great alliance partners.

1402: Awesome rookie team that could hang from the ground. Their hanging system worked often, and was really cool.

311: Awesome robot that could cap and hang very well. Just an amazing robot.

945: Number one seed at UCF for a reason. They were very very good at playing this years game. Very tough capping/hanging robot.

180: When their arm was working it was one of the coolest looking arms out there. It had a sleek holomonic drive system like 1083's. I was pretty impressed.

21: So cool! I can't wait to see if their ball dispensing system works better at Palmetto. They catch every ball that falls. Very nice design.

Outside of UCF:
343: Wow our sister team sure put out another great robot. With an exelent capping system. And a pretty good hanging mechanism. Very nice looking, elegent, and has a strong drive system to boot. Oh yeah an you can't go wrong with pogo sticks. Lol

So many good robots out there. I can't wait to see more at the next regional!

I'd definitely have to agree with 16 being outstanding. In StL we were partnered with them for our first match, and then against them for two more matches. Each match they did something different, based on their partners strengths, because they could do it all, and do it all well. And their finals in StL had everyone in the arena on the edge of their seats.

Re: coolest robots

I was only able to catch a few of the matches at Peachtree because i was occupied with the Pit Admin desk...

Functionality: Tie between 343 and 1002...i liked 343's hook and winch design
Originality: Who can forget my old team 807, with that big green head that topped their robot?

945 - can do everything very strong
61 - hangs and blocks the top platform well also very strong
386 - fast and very strong good for containing robots and gathering balls

Re: coolest robots

A lot of people have mentioned team 33...for their ball collection, which is very nice by the way. But no one has yet to mention their SWEET gearboxes. They have a 4-speed automatic gearbox weighing only 2 lbs. It is very simplistic as well. Even though there are some other nice drives and such as some good holonomic drives out there, I like the quality and effectiveness of 33's gearbox. It is fast and powerful and shifts smoothly without any notice in power loss.

Based on what I have seen/heard I also like 190's design. Very original and a great way to control the game.

Re: coolest robots

Technokats (45) had me hooked from the first picture. That arm is beautiful, AND it sucks up balls!

Chief Delphi (47) has one awesome robot. Their arm is the perfect length, and it is controllable. AND it hangs faster than any I've seen.

HOT (67) has an awesome bot, long wedge, drives great, and holds the big ball like it's nothing.

Team 388 had an awesome robot, and I think it was the best looking bot in Virginia. I can't believe such a great team was still around for our second pick!

As for us hanging....we need to get it to drive first, but we're close!
