Making money with your site

Anyone have any good ways to make money from your site? I started out with a paypal "Makea donation" button, but it hasn't gotten any money. Yesterday, I put in a pop-under script that gives $1.40 raw cpm. Anyone have any comments on how to earn more money?

Re: Making money with your site

Why would you need to make money with the site? For the team or do you have to pay to keep site up?

Re: Making money with your site

Both. Mainly, my team won't sponsor a real domain name, so I'm saving up for it. Also, I think it might not be a bad idea.

A real domain name is only $8 per year.

Re: Making money with your site

I would rather just go around and ask for sponsors and put their link (if they have one) on a links page on your site. Or possibly make a page just for sponsors of the site with the sponsor's info, address, e-mail, phone number, fax, etc...

I just don't like the idea of banners or pop-ups (or pop-unders).

Re: Making money with your site

My team doesn't even think that we need a real domain and hosting, so all the sponsors' money is going towards the robot and other things(tools, etc.)

On another note, the sponsors page is something I forgot (oops).

Tell your team that webdesign is another award that you can win - they might gove you a littlw more attention then.

Re: Making money with your site

For $42/yr, you can get a domain (from wherever) and hosting from www.fireballhosting.com *plug*. That's probably the best value I've seen. A popular type of advertising is Google's AdSense https://www.google.com/adsense/. You could try to sell stuff to earn money for it. Maybe old, illegal kit parts

Hey Sam,

Check out http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=24872 for some free hosting and give promo@sevaa.com a shout, they might be able to hook you up with a domain.

I just don't like the idea of banners or pop-ups (or pop-unders).
If I had sponsor information on our site, I would see if we couldn't have a specific page with the sponsor logo and such as well as a link to the sponsor's website and other contact informaiton. If we could do this, the sponsors will be happy that they're on the site, but the scouts and people who just want to check out the team will also be happy because there aren't buttons and pop-unders and banner ads all over the place.

Maybe you could sell your recyced part projects, too. Before you sell them , though, send me an email about what you're doing or look at the thread I started here.
