Re: What have you given up for FIRST?

um....
Most likely the only chance I will get with a couple of girls, One in particular .
Playing in baseball(still on the team, just benched cause coach doesn't exactly fancie me missing X # of FIRST days.)
Sleep, but I don't like it anyway. It is a waste of time. (Ask my team they force me to sleep before I drive the bot.)
The grades are good, but the work isn't exactly made up in time. They let me go cause they know what I am doing and that it is beneficiall for me to do it.
Other than that I think I am good.

Six weeks? Do you call yourself devoted? lol j/k.
I think I've given up just about everything not required to make FIRST work. I even held off on eating some days just to get that last bit of wiring done... (/me groans at the thought of rewiring something else)

Re: What have you given up for FIRST?

What have I given up... let me see..

Definitely my sanity for starters. But i mostly gain things when it comes to FIRST.

Through FIRST, I have picked up numerous things, such as 1) An insane addiction to caffeine 2) numerous eating disorders and 3) chronic insomnia.

All in all, I think I got the better half of the deal.

Re: What have you given up for FIRST?

As most of us have, I've given up my time, energy, and sleep. But these things are very small when compared to what we have gained. I don't know of any other program where someone can learn so much and gain so many great experiences as FIRST.

No matter how hard the build season gets, I wouldn't miss a minute of it for anyting.

I was a ballerina for as long as I can remember until I discovered FIRST, and let me tell you all something, FIRST people are SO much cooler than all those uptight ballerinas. Good decision on my part, methinks.

Re: What have you given up for FIRST?

The thingIi gave up the most was my grades. Alongspending time with my family. Last season the only time I saw my parents was, when I woke them up late at night to tell them I was home. Another thing I gave up was allto fo sleep and the possible job I could of gotten. but looking back it was soooooooo worth it.

Re: What have you given up for FIRST?

Some "friends" (true friends understand, so good riddance to those who don't), the chance to own a cat, a really fun ski weekend on President's Day weekend (so long hot tubbing in the snow), working on personal projects, such as the photo gallery I've been meaning to put together and my writing, oh and during the 6 weeks of build, I pretty much give up cleaning the house (yea, I mean darn), and zucchini, and I gave up my giving up of caffeine, and as usual, I missed the first two Relay for Life team captain meetings. And most importantly, I gave up my freedom, which may not sound like much, but I almost never, ever commit to things and yet I find myself offering more and more of my time for the team... I guess I'm hooked.

Heidi
