Re: Divisions at Championship?
Because I have a lot of time on my hands, I did some analysis of the divisions:
Division 1 has 15 regional champions (233, 279, 303, 313, 322, 340, 364, 381, 457, 492, 537, 938, 977, 1030, and 1057). Division 2 is absolutely loaded. They have 20 regional champions (5, 33, 45, 56, 61, 66, 114, 126, 176, 229, 254, 284, 314, 398, 571, 716, 945, 967, 1031, and 1405) including 3 who have won 2 regionals (5, 33, and 254). Division 3 is the one my team is in. It has 13 regional champions (47, 67, 177, 230, 311, 330, 389, 449, 522, 930, 957, 980, and 1114) and one team that lost twice in the finals (222). Division 4, I believe, already has a clear winner. The division has 11 regional champions (16, 237, 269, 388, 501, 585, 662, 982, 1002, 1212, and 1369) including one who has won 2 regionals (16). As I still have "March Madness" I am going to make my final four picks right now, based on the captains of the winning alliances. Division 1: 303 Division 2: 254 Division 3: 449 (or if you want a non-partisan pick: 311) Division 4: 16 I make these picks without ever seeing most of these teams compete. But in all seriousness, does it really matter? This is Max Wasserman, Blair Robot Project. Now back to Sportscenter. |

Re: Divisions at Championship?
Nice work.
Though, I disagree that just because one team has won multiple regionals that they'll do exponentially better than any of the other regional winners. Regional wins are partially mutually exclusive of one another, and it depends on the teams that are at that regional. Why I say partially is because you have to assume that regionals that are close to a general area of teams will have basically the same teams at them, and because of that 2 regional wins from the same general area, though admirable, is less impressive than say, bicoastal regional wins. What's great about the competition size is that teams with even one regional win will still be highly regarded, because of the size of the divisions. I personally feel that for fairness purposes, the divisions should have a more equal number of regional winners in them than what we assume it will be now. But if they dont, hey, thats great news for those other divisions, because it will be easier to climb to the top of their division, and once the finals happen, you won't have to deal with many of those teams from Div 2, since they will have already knocked eachother out. |

Re: Divisions at Championship?
Time for explanations:
First, sorry to all the teams I accidentally omitted (1126). My bad. Second, I wasn't quite telling the truth when I said I hadn't seen the teams I picked in action. And when I say I wasn't quite telling the truth, I mean I totally lied (but for comedic effect). I saw team 303 at Annapolis. We played with them and against them. They're very good. One team I talked to (whose identity I will not reveal) said that their most hated team was 303. And when a lot of teams hate you, you MUST be good. I watched the Silicon Valley webcast. Through blurried and un-buffered images (darn you dial-up) I think I saw team 254 doing very well. Or it could have been a can-opener. I don't know. (I have got to get DSL.) I know absolutely nothing about team 311 except that they won the Long Island regional and they're in the same division as their good friend team 1114. And that could mean something in the elimination rounds. Now as for team 16, my team (449) partnered with them. Not in the qualification rounds, but in the tournament. We were both on the winning alliance. Trust me when I say they're awesome. Third, nobody should pay attention to my analysis. My picks are guaranteed to be wrong. I'm so inept, I picked Pittsburgh to win the NCAA Tournament. They almost got to the Elite 8. That's all I have to say right now. I'm actually considering making a tournament pool at Atlanta. Of course, I will have to get around that no gambling issue. |

i didnt see this point but i might have missed it, but the best teams can often end up losing, at palmetto the 8th place team almost won in the finals, and the number one team they beat early on, in my opinion, was the dream team of the tournament, so upsets are almost a guarentee....maybe we will be one of those upsets *fingers crossed* -read over my message, and before anyone is offended, the 8th seeded team was awesome and i enjoyed watching them play, i was trying to point out that highest see does not = win- Last edited by Terminator6 : 04-04-2004 at 21:28. |

Re: Divisions at Championship?
I don't really mind. Our team will do well, as long as it is allied with a good, strong hanger/auto ball dumper
Although I still wish we were in division 1, to form "the old alliance" - 27,111,461 Now that the autonomous on all three is working well, I don't see how we'll lose -------------------------- If I see John-V-Neun on one more person's "info" who isn't the REAL John-V-Neun I'll go CRAZY!!! btw, who is John-V-Neun and what is he idolized for? |
