Archimedes teams ranked by regional performance

I used data from the regional competitions to rank the teams in Archimedes.
I ranked them by overall win % in the qualifying rounds, and by another method I call the "Rob Ranking" The Rob ranking combines win percentage, top 8 qualifying, and being selected in the draft to rate teams based on how the have performed thus far.
T get the "adjusted win%" I multiply the teams win percentage in qualifying by 2 factors RSM (Rob's Seeding Multiplier) and RPM (Rob's Picking Multiplier).

RSM: A team gets 1 for ranking below top 8, 1.5 for ranking in top 8
RPM: A team gets 1.2 for being picked in round 1, and 1.1 for round 2

Adjusted win percentage is win percentage times RSM times RPM.

Please note that this data may not be accurate, I had a very hard time finding data from the first 2 weeks of regionals. Please let me know if some data for your team was left out.

Also note that this ranking is based only on qualifying and being picked for the eliminations, and not on elimination performance. If you think this should be included, please feel free to search through the records on usfirst.org for the data.

Disclaimer: These rankings are not meant to demean the teams who are ranked low. They in no way include a provision for teams improving between events. The data used may not be accurate. I think this ranking is best used as a means to identify teams that have already had success. Just because a team has a low ranking does not mean that they are bad, but teams with a high ranking probably are pretty good.

Have fun with this!

Rob

Just a warning ahead of time, anyone who tries to open the file through the link will get a page with weird characters. You have to right click on the link and choose 'Save Target As...' then you will be able to view it.

Re: Archimedes teams ranked by regional performance

Yes, this gives team 60 some much deserved credit for their performances this year. People have mentioned the likes of team 45 and 71, but Kingman is a VERY big powerhouse in the west. People seem to forget the other side of the 60-254 powerhouse alliance. The cheesy poofs has had more success this year, but team 60 is just as powerful, and this Excel sheet shows why. I think team 60 has a great chance of winning something VERY big this year.

Hey Brandon, do you think we could have a few words that automatically show up at the bottom of the outline box around the attachment that says something like this?

Re: Archimedes teams ranked by regional performance

It is apparent to me when I view this sheet that there are probably 2-3 teams who should be ranked higher. Teams who competed in the first 2 weeks and who were picked to play in the eliminatin rounds may not have recieved credit for this. If anyone can help me to fill in the missing information, I will update the spreadsheet.

Thanks!

Rob

Re: Archimedes teams ranked by regional performance

What is the best way to collect pics for Archimedes teams? I just posted a profile shot of our robot as a sample. I would like to collect pics now and make scouting sheets prior to travel.
Any suggestions?

It is actually better if you take pictures at the competition and use those instead of sites like www.firstrobotics.net

Usually robots are modified enough from the time they ship to the time of the championship
