I know when I was in California, going to Nationals in Florida sapped a whole lot from me. You end up hardly sleeping the first night becasue you stay up until your normal bedtime, but have to get up much earlier then you are used to. Then, by the end of the competition, you are mostly adjusted to EST and have to adjust back to west coast time.

Going to Florida 2 years ago from New York was much easier, with no time change. Houston was even better, because I could wake up at 6am, but feel like I was waking up at 7, my normal time. That hour didn't make much difference at night, either.
