Championship Tailgate Part 2

The ThunderChickens are organizing a big tailgate for whoever wants to show up. We did it at the MidWest Regional and it was a blast. I told everyone in a previous post that I would have more details, so here goes:

Time: 6:00am until Pits open on Saturday

Place: International Plaza located between Georgia Dome and CNN center. I have attached a picture.

Things ThunderChickens are bringing:

1. Folding tables for serving
2. Towels
3. 2 turkey deep friers (for hash browns and chicken wings)
4. 4 propane tanks
5. 10 gallons of vegetable oil (no peanut allergy concerns)
6. Ice chests (coolers)
7. BBQ tongs
8. serving spoons
9. 3 crock pots
10. Aluminum pans for cooking eggs (see picture of Baker in gallery)
11. 4 1 gallon jugs for scrambled eggs
12. Aluminum foil
13. Paper towels
14. Large bowls for chicken wings
15. serving trays
16. ThunderChicken Green table cloths
17. 14 dozen eggs
18. 8-10 packages of ready to serve sausage
19. Sat and pepper
20. 15 lbs of chicken wings
21. BW3 BBQ sauce

MINIMUM things we need others to bring (can bring other stuff, too):

1. 6-8 packages of frozen hash browns
2. At least 8 gallons of juice
3. At least 1 gallon of milk
4. 4-5 dozen bagels
5. Donuts / donut holes
6. 2# cream cheese
7. 1# butter/margarine
8. Napkins for at least 200
9. Plates for at least 200
10. Forks for at least 200
11. Cups for at least 200

If people can reply using this thread, then I can keep track of who is bringing what and how many people to expect. Please use this thread to respond regarding if you (our your team) is planning on coming.

I would also like to thank Anne Bergeron for locating the site and clearing up what can and can't be done at the site.

I hope to see you there!!!!

-Paul

Re: Championship Tailgate Part 2

Paul,

I won't know if Team 330 as a whole is interested until after our travel team meeting tomorrow night (already? yikes!). But I do know that we are staying near the airport and taking MARTA to the competition area. At present, we are not planning to have any vehicles. So obtaining any of the above and transporting it to the venue could be difficult for us. We won't know for sure until we get there. I know of at least a couple of teams with similar plans.

Ca$h however, is easily transportable and most of us will be carrying some in any case. Would there be an option to contribute financially instead of materially? That could make a difference in what we decide to do.

Re: Championship Tailgate Part 2

Chris,

We'll see what kind of response we get on this forum, but I suspect we won't be collecting any money from anyone. When we run out of food, we run out. The more food people bring, the better the chance we will not run out.

I'll talk to the rest of Wildstang to figure out what we can bring, but you can probably count on us for some of the items. Unfortunately Dottie can't make the casserole this time since there's no place to cook it. I'll get back to you tomorrow.

/edit: David, DJ, and I have decided to pitch in and bring the napkins, forks, plates, and cups. Least we can do.

... that, and I doubt that DJ and David will turn down free food.

I'm too late, that's what I was going to volunteer. I guess we'll have to step up and bring some of the more difficult items. Do you need any more tables, how 'bout another grill? We're talking about what we can bring, but it looks like we'll be able to get some of the refrigerated/frozen goods. Still waiting for confirmation from more team members though.

I will definitely be there, but as with Chris, we will be walking or taking MARTA, and Im not sure that we would be able to carry much, if anyone besides myself even decided to come.

Hey Paul ...

Team 27 will be there (all of us, again) ... do you think you could beat us there this time? tee hee ... love you guys ... Anyway ... we can bring whatever! Our hotel will be just a stone throw away from a Cosco ... we were planning on 5-6 dozen muffins ... is that what you want? Let us know at the competition what you want. We have a few parents who would love to spend ours and other peoples money!

Please let us know what else you need. Paul (Woodie jr.) - your efforts are truly appreciated ... as I told you in Chicago, "I understand your life"!

Go FIRST!!! And hey - give your wife a big (not too big ... we want the baby to stay put - and I know how hard you hug ... my back still isn't straight) for being such a trooper. She is Wood"ette" jr. in my books! Gosh - to be married to you, she should be Wood"ette" Superior!

Love ya, Paul!
Kyle and Dennis (and yes, he loves you too ... he just requested a hug as well)

Hmmm, you must be bringing Dunkin Donuts Dave!

Or perhaps Krispy Kremes... I'm really not sure.

Re: Championship Tailgate Part 2

I have a vision in my mind of a scene vaguely reminiscent of one early morning at the Championships in Orlando four years ago... there I was getting in line at the Krispy Kreme, ready to purchase 15 dozen donuts (12 dozen for the team, and 3 dozen for me). As I start to count out my pennies, I look up and there is Andy Baker right in front of me in line doing the same thing! Between the two of us, I think we carried about a quarter-million calories out of the store and back to the pits!
