Yes there are but most of them are in bars or night clubs. however there will be street preformers at underground.

but does the whole team have to stay untill 8:00?
If we need to work on the bot we will only keep three students and one or two mentors and fix it. The rest of the team can have fun underground.

you are right... but i think those 3 students who would stay in the pit would also like to join all of us for the fun... as being me one of them for my team...

as for a time that ive been slow and reluctant to give. 7:00 to 11:00 because some like to start early and othes wont be able to even leave the pit's till 8

but sometimes you must make a sacrafice for the betterment of the team.
Example at vcu in our last match of the day we broke a worm gear. so instead of going to the team social three students including me and a mentor stayed untill the pits were closed and fixed it. by the time we got to the team social all of the food was gone. But it helped us to compete succesfully the next day.

no thanks necessary, it makes it easier on everyone. for those of you that are worried about being stuck in the pits, here is my suggestion. a) we all pick a place to meet at 7pm (seeing as we can't just meet in the underground...it's pretty big) b) we leave behind a small group of students until about 8:30 to meet up with those stuck in the pits until 8. leave behind an adult or college student so it's not completely unsupervised and we're still safe. get the cell number of a few people in the larger group, and when the guys from the pit crew arrive, pick a place to meet. someone in both groups will obviously need a map. just my 2 cents. =)
