Re: Ahh! Prom!

Hey! Although personally I don't start thinking about prom until like...umm the week before, why dont you just take a friend? i mean, i girl? unless you go to a catholic school, i think that would be fine...she wouldnt (obviously) be your "date" but atleast you'd get to go and then you can still hang out with your friends. Don't know if you're that desperate or not, but its a thought! And if you don't want to do that, I will reiterate what some of the others said, just pick a guy! I have met a lot of really great people by just going up and chatting with them...its suprising to find out how much you have in common with someone you figured was an exact opposite. Its a lot of fun meeting someone new...if you take a friend, you may get tired of each other too quickly, but with someone new, you can't go wrong! there's so much to talk about. Hope you have fun! And don't worry, it will all work out...if nothing else....you can crash it.

Re: Ahh! Prom!

dont worry about asking a guy. i am going with a female friend of mine (im a guy) as a friend. i didnt feel like going to prom with anyone in any traditional sense of the word, but i went around to my female friends and started whoring myself out, seeing if anyone needed someone. i offered to a girl in my school named jess (shes one of those crazy cool people you feel proud to know) and she needed someone, so, hence, i am going to prom....

dont forget your friends, might not be romantic, but who knows, anyways as a vertran of at least one senior prom, i can say it can be a great night, even with a friend....

Re: Ahh! Prom!

Ugh. Proms are evil. I went to an all girl school and I was very, very shy. I skipped my junior prom, and almost skipped my senior prom because there was no way I was going to ask someone, not me. While talking about it at work one night, one of the waiters offered to be my date. As a matter of fact, he was super excited about it, and couldn't wait to rent a tux. I was happy. My parents weren't because he was 30 years old and undeniably gay. The same night he invited himself, a friend of mine who knew her brother had a crush on me asked him to go with me (she did not tell me she was doing this) and he said yes. I didn't want to go with him, he was boring, he had absolutely no passion for anything, he was fussy, he was petrified of dogs and hated cats because they licked themselves in public. But I said yes to him because my parents were having conniptions over the gay man. I should have stood up to my parents; my prom would have been a lot more memorable and fun if I had.

Last year one of the students on our team asked me to the prom. He just thought it would be the coolest thing if I went. However, his prom was the same day I had scheduled to go skydiving so I told him as nicely as I could, that I would rather throw myself from a plane than go to prom with him. He wasn't too broken up about it; he turned right around and asked Dave Lavery to go with him.
