Static Electricity

Was anyone else annoyed with the static electricity created by the plastic floors in the stadium? It really bothered me and I even had it arching from the teather to the I/O a few times. Did anyone else have this happen to them?

We didn't really have problems but it just worried me, and so we had to take safty measures.

Re: Static Electricity

Yea, anyone on my team that was on the floor noticed it. If we were watching a match and needed to roll the bot up in the queue, we'd always get a zap when we grabbed the aluminum frame. Sometimes, we had some fun and discharged ourselfs on each other .. We just got used to it. Since nothing electrical was grounded to the frame .. we didnt worry about damage. Just touch the frame before plugging in the teather.

Re: Static Electricity

Before ever touching the robot, the drive team would ground ourselves by either touching the aluminum handle on the "dolly" to carry the robot on and off the field, or we zap ourselves for amusement before matches. Sometimes we zap other people for fun.
