Go to Post A wrench isn't a nesscary part is it? Last Night, we tested the robot and a large, (yes I said LARGE) wrench fell from somewhere on the robot....Along with bolts, nuts, and a very interestingly cut piece of Aluminum... - Will Bale [more]

Question FINAL FANTASY!!! (Possible Spoilers!!!)

So whacha think!?! As for me, it was, uh, very much crouching tiger-hidden dragon. Well, ending I mean. And the plot was there, but in some cases they seemed to act like the audience was living in that time period and understood what was going on. While they touched on those points eventually as the movie panned out.

Now for technical aspects: Wow. It's simply amazing. Though you can tell at times when a good animator did the scene as opposed to one not as experienced. Some stiffnes in movements in some scenes, but mainly detail stuff like finger movements and such. Light still not perfected but darn good lookin. The best looking character I thought was the doctor. In several scenes he was unbelievable looking, too real. Lip Sync was off at times it appeard, but not by much. Bah well. I'm one of few animators who actually put cotter pins on his robot model, so ah course I'm gonna be picky.

<sarcasm>Oh, and the best line had to be "Hmm... it's warm..."</sarcasm>

Overall, the movie was good for what it was - Game to film. All animators should check it out for some groovy tech and mechanical ideas. That and for the Spiderman trailer... B^P

Just thought I would drop these in from Rottentomatoes.com

DONT HATE ME!!! These are just the funniest critical reviews of the film I found so I thought I would share. If you go to the film expecting a whole lot, your fave moment will probably be the spiderman trailer. Its a game-to-movie movie, so dont expect much. But dang, is it pretty...

"In what is undoubtedly a stunning but dubious achievement, the makers of Final Fantasy have succeeded in mastering the artificial reproduction of bad acting."
-- Michael Elliott, MOVIE PARABLES

"The sight of these characters getting romantic is about as involving as watching two expensive mannequins kissing in a Macy's window."
-- Kenneth Turan, LOS ANGELES TIMES

"Apparently, about $100 billion and millions of hours of rendering cycles went into creating Dr. Beautiful's hair, and about $1.50 and a coffee break went into the script."
-- MaryAnn Johanson, FLICK FILOSOPHER

"My fantasy involved having the projector break or seeing the theater lights come back on."
-- Sean O'Connell, ECLIPSE MAGAZINE

"Final Fantasy joins Tomb Raider and The Phantom Menace as movies whose moronic stories are mere vehicles to get the viewer from one game-challenge sequence -- a chase through canyons, a battle with aliens -- to the next."
-- Roger Moore, ORLANDO SENTINEL

"The characters are so frighteningly lifelike ... that it becomes distracting, which I guess actually helps the story in a way."
-- Jon Popick, PLANET SICK-BOY

"Digital technology allows man to create man in his own image with greater sophistication than ever before, and the 'man' he creates is a bore."
-- Geoff Pevere, TORONTO STAR

"The film's greatest strength is also one of its biggest weaknesses. As realistic-looking as the characters are, the flat, expressionless features make them seem emotionally aloof and rather unsympathetic."
-- Jeff Vice, DESERET NEWS, SALT LAKE CITY

"These characters are so stiff and dull that you'd be tempted to use that control pad to make the aliens eat all of them. That would be worth watching."
-- Dave White, IFILM

"It feels as if a computer also wrote and directed the film."
-- SCREEN IT!

Thumbs up ...

Wow, makes me wonder if they spent years making the movie. The motions of the human mouth are far from perfect, but the scenes are most dazzling: Look closely at the asteroids [or whatever] as they touchdown, its simply amazing. I agree with Robby O about the doctor, his antics were "too real." Lighting was excellent and it was the main engine behind everything. If you watch the movie you'll see alot more effects, as I do not want to describe them at this point [long posts don't work for me]. Plot seemed "blasè" to me, as I mainly went to see the animation itself.
