Anyone else a little ticked off?

On friday our team (237) had one of the first matches on the Archimedes field. For us to watch the opening ceremonies at Einstein then walk to the back side of the stadium and to our seats would take about 4-5 minutes (depending on traffic), so we would miss our first match. Instead we decided to sit in our seats and hope they broadcasted the ceremonies over all the fields screens but they did not. This made many of us mad seeing there must have been about 20 teams that did the same as us. With all this technology that FIRST has i would of thought that they can atleast broadcast these ceremonies to all the fields We still enjoyed Jesse M. and his trumpet but it would have been nice to see him also. anyone else that was in this same predicament as us and also mad leave a post!

Re: Anyone else a little ticked off?

I did not have your exact problem but i had a similar one. I however was in the pits. The large screens that they used to broadcast from the dome where horrible. the lights where to bright around them so you could not even see the pictures on the screens. And the way they made the screens show the feilds where horrible. We were on Newton feild. i could not leave my pit, I could only see the screen for Curie and i dont even know what the other one was. i never saw my robot in action. they could have made the screens show different feilds during the day. or something better then what they had.

Yeah, I was at Curie, and the speakers were in direct line of sight to the video screen on Einstein.

Re: Anyone else a little ticked off?

The galileo screen wasn't too bad, but I found myself getting kinda ticked with a few pit displays. One in particular blocked both galileo screens from our pit, so most of our members would have to walk all around to see the screens. Beforehand I thought huge displays were awesome, but there should be some size restrictions. This one was a good 20-25 feet up and just destroyed the view for some teams.

Re: Anyone else a little ticked off?

I was a bit disappointed when they didn't broadcast opening ceremonies but the black curtain was see-through enough that what they broadcasted on einstein i could see all the way on newton. i was suprised that they didn't broadcast everything, and my team's decision was to watch the webcast of the ceremony, even though it was about a minute behind the audio 100 feet away from us. My mom emailed NASA and had some things changed, so just and FYI, talk to them about it and stuff happens. For example, the screen on Newton was a lot darker and harder to see via webcast, but they fixed it when she asked. Also, they hadn't shown any of the students during matches or between matches, so they fixed that when she asked. All in all, FIRST did their best to appease everyone and it worked well, so thank you to the people that tried. =)

Re: Anyone else a little ticked off?

i also was annoyed that they did not show the opening ceremonies on all the screens and it took me a second to figure out why. i am assuming that they did it on purpose because they want everyone at one stage. they want to be able to pan and take pics of the huge crowd and they just want a huge sense of belonging. this does make sense to me. i remember at the regionals we went to (NH and CT) they forced us to leave the pits for the ceremonies. i also think its because of the speakers they had and jessie, it would look bad if if there was no one in the audience to listen to them.

thats just my theory and i can understand it even though it is inconvenient.

Re: Anyone else a little ticked off?

Yeah, I'm ticked off for other reasons, which I will not post here. I did post it earlier, but got into some trouble, so for right now I'm keepin it clean.

Does nasa have that earth science music video up on the internet? That video made that otherwise dumb song supercool.

Tell me where to get it

Re: Anyone else a little ticked off?

i agree the screens in the pit were really unclear it was hard to see the robots on the neuton field screen-- all you really could see was in the end who won-- if u didn't have time to walk to the match and you tried in the pit wasn't really good

hopefully it can be worked out better next year with all the screens

Re: Anyone else a little ticked off?

i dont have anything like about hotel rooms or anything in general about nats .. but i do have a little complaint, and id like for people not to take any offense.. yet it was a little disturbing for me.. (i guess u can put it that way).. its basically about gracious professionalism.. here it goes.. so, FIRST is about gracious professionalism.. at all times, not just in front of judges or in competition... right? ;D well after the competition, i guess some people felt like they didnt need to be nice anymore to anyone.. and a few people and i were in an elevator in the hotel.. and we got to the floor we wanted to be at.. and some person from some team (no names, description or team name bc i dont want to be mean and point them out) was being really mean to us.. and was saying "im tired of these kids now" and actually grabbed a few of us and attempted to pull us by our arms and pull us out of the elevator.. i, myself was nice about it.. and just mentioned gracious professionalism .. and just left.. i tried to ignore it.. but it just bothered me.. and even bothered me more that this person was an older person and mightve been a adult member or mentor from a team.. i dont know whether this is a bad post.. so if it is.. just delete it and ill and ill understand. i jsut wanted to get this off my back.. and hopefully some people will understand where im coming from.. and this isnt a complaint about FIRST's gracious professionalism.. its just a thought.. also, i didnt know where to post this up.. so i just wanted to post this up here.. but dont get me wrong.. i <3 Atlanta
