Question Looking for team 217 Electrical

Hey does anyone know how to contact team 217 electrical members. I was suppose to go back and talk to the engineer, to get the info on their 10guage wire they used. This is Mike, team 1126 Electrical mentor.
Team 217, please contact me at michael.miraglia@usa.xerox.com - with the wire info - I have a small sample from one of your students and wanted to talk more about it.
Thanks

It was very flexible , I think it was high quality audio wire. It was very easy to work with according to their team members. Made their layout look great.

I think someone on the forums should be able to help you if I remeber correctly. The wire you are looking for should be the one on the top though I can only find it 12 gauge. http://www.robotcombat.com/marketplace_wire.html

Re: Looking for team 217 Electrical

We have been using it for years. It is high quality audio wire and is pretty expensive. For those of you that live in the Detroit area, we got it at K40 electronics. They must carry miles of it in 10 gauge. For the rest of you, I will get the part number and manufacturer for it.

This stuff is awesome. It is one of those things that if you don't ever use it, you don't really think you need it; but after you use it once, you can't imagine you life without it. We tried to not use it this year to cut costs ... that lasted one day of wiring. I was sent out to get about 50 feet of it immediately.

I will post the part number sometime this week.

Re: Looking for team 217 Electrical

This year, we used part number 7587K3 from Mcmaster (10 awg) it was very flexible and easy to work with. It's stranded tinned-copper wire, and its insulation is fairly small , to the point that whenever we were inspected, the inspectors didn't believe it was 10 awg.

On a similar note, flexible 6 guage wire is a great as well. I really like it on the battery leads. I can't remember where it's from, but I know that it has a high number of strands and is used in welding equiptment.

Hey Paul,
Thank you, I really want to use that next year. Like I said I asked one of your kids for a sample , and she gave it to me. I showed it to the other electrical team members, they loved it too. Please send out the part numberand manufacturer as soon as you get it. THANKS AGAIN, Mike from teamm 1126 SparX !!!!

We got ours donated from Monster Cable company. Its easy to get a amp kit which is very expensive for barely any cable for robot use.
But they also come in spindles which is avaible at major car audio outlets.

This is the cable we use beacuase they come in mini spools and this is how we got donated
http://www.monstercable.com/caraudio...ar.asp?pin=501
if you want big spools you can look in here.
http://www.monstercable.com/caraudio...ar.asp?pin=499

online stores (not recommended)
http://www.wirecloset.com/carpower.htm

I called up moster cable and they said they dont use outside retailers to sell their car audio power cables. They have different retailers in different states. i would recommend you call them at 1415-840-2000 and find out the closest retailer.

Good Luck
