How many team capped and hung? We finally figured out to pull it off in the elimination matches at the Palmetto regional.

We did, quite well to if I may say so myself.

Both teams I mentioned (486 and 71) did too.

BTW I believe we capped in every match this year as well, at least almost every one. So, if its not too biased, I'll have to add 67 to my list .

Many teams did that, among them 69, 121, and 126.

Too bad 69 didn't come to nats. They would've made for some (even more) exciting matches.

Team 945 capped and hung i would say 80% of the time. The other 20% they most likely hung then capped.

Re: who is the best capper in this game????

I have to say, I liked 433's capper. It was nice and simple--and the suction method was kinda unique. They had the vacuum being created by a motor, if I recall correctly. When they could keep control of it (the ball had a bad tendency to swing in the air), it was great.

The best as in more able than all others? Probably not...but it was still pimp.

I loved watching Aces High (176) cap. Drive wheels out at the end of their grabber rolled the ball into their grasp quite gracefully. And likewise when placing it where they wanted. It was a beautiful sight.

I didn't get to see 176 cap this year, but if I had built a capper, that is how I would have done it (taking a cue from the Technokats '98 robot).

I also liked the reach of 45's capper this year, the speed and ease with which 179 capped, and the way 71 could cap and jam the ball in with one motion.

All I have to say is 71. I mean the beast is not just a name. They capped and hung at the same time. And it was so sweet to be on the side of the field watching them do it. GO 71!

Re: who is the best capper in this game????

ahhhh, suction cups! i forgot about those, they were definitely the best for weightsaving purposes- some of the best cuppers I saw were 16, 272, and 306... 272 was even punching a big ball when it was being sucked, and the ball wouldnt budge. wow.

Re: who is the best capper in this game????

I definitely liked 980 in terms of general capping...especially with their autonomous mode. That must have been almost impossible to program.

Next, 45, because their arm was just very effective overall. (well, after the mishap at Ypsilanti where it...fell off...)

And of course... I can't argue with Beatty's cap-and-hang at the same time. It just LOOKS awesome. Too bad they didn't do it in the finals...would've made it look great

And I'll admit to liking ours, too... It worked way better than I thought it was going to...

My impressions after watching GLR, MWR, & Nats:
45 was the most powerful capper. They could 'super-cap' the ball down to the floor if they wanted to.
71 was the best at capping from behind
60 was the best all around capper (didn't see 254, but I assume they were just as good)

Re: who is the best capper in this game????

I would have to say, 303, 56, 175, 45, 231, 288, and 195 were some of the best cappers I have seen. They were very consistant with their capping and they all did well at their regionals and at nationals.

In addition to 45 and 71 (congrats) I would say that Wildstang had an effective capper. It used a rotating bar and could drop the 2x ball in easily without interfering with the purple balls.
