I'm interested in knowing if anyone is going to Purdue or has friends that are. It'd be neat to meet a few potential advisors for next year.

Im going to Northeastern. I will probably go for electrical engineering or computer engineering. If you hear on the local news that half the power is out in Boston then most likely it was me.

Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?

Accepted to NCSU (North Carolina State), University of South Carolina, and Tulane. I was planning on going to NC State since I receive a tuition waiver for graduating but I applied to some other schools just for the heck of it. Being accepted to college since November is a bad thing though (especially when its your first choice school). So I'll be @ NC State next year majoring in Mechanical Engineering. If anyone else is going to be at State next year drop me an email at bradshawaa@ncssm.edu . You are welcome to come mentor on my team (Team 900) which is only a short drive away.

I think i'll probably end up at San Fracisco State university. I've never been there, but i hear it's really nice and there's lots of stuff to do in the city. Still waitin to hear from a few other colleges.

I'm not sure if you're planning on entering an engineering program but there was a recent rumor that San Francisco State University may be cutting it's engineering college.

Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?

There is more than just a rumor. My college and career counselor at school said that in one year they will eliminate the engineering program. Two days ago they cut quite a few other programs just to keep engineering for another year.

Advice to anyone wanting to go to school in CA:

Avoid state schools if at all possible. UC's arent as bad as state schools, but the budget situation is only going to get worse.

I've pretty much narrowed my choices to University of the Pacific and WPI. If it weren't for all the budget problems, I might look a lot more favorably upon San Jose State University.

From what I had heard, it seemed like a stunt by the college president to get more money out of the state legislature (give us more money or we'll cut engineering!). However, it doesn't seem as if the state legislature is willing to be threatened like that. It'll be interesting if it stays around (it'll also be telling if they cut engineering and leave in some more, shall we say, esoteric majors).

OLIN! OLIN! OLIN! OLIN! ::cheer::

I'll be headed off to Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering come fall. I really encourage any rising senior to check it out - if you like build season and think that's how you'd like your classes to work, Olin's for you. (www.olin.edu)
