Go to Post Just got our robot crate back. The FedEx driver told me he was watching the robotics competition online and asked how our team did. He knew about Team 27 and 469. We must be doing a great job in Michigan promoting FIRST if a FedEx driver watch FRC matches online and was excited talking about it. - Ed Law [more]

Exclamation no electricity

David Kelly, team 234, has been out of electricity due to storms, since Sunday. I'm afraid he is having posting withdrawl! Let's just hope that they get Indianapolis back up and running before David checks into a rehab center!

Unhappy ...

haha: ok, so maybe that's not a funny statement, but it is a perfect metaphor [or whatever] for what's happening to me right now...they are about to girdle my broadband connection and I am feeling the first signs of withdrawal....

Why doesn't he just use the hampster on a wheel to power his computer like The High Priest does?

I've got the power!!!

Thanks Libby, at the very least you could have come over to let me use your laptop.

Finally, after 75 grueling and painful hours IPL has restored our power. It was prolly the hottest week that we had this summer. It was very frustrating to see that your neighbors across the street had power and you didn't. There were only 35 houses in my neighborhood that lost power as a result, we were on the "Low Priorety list" meaning that they would get to us after the larger affected areas were fixed, eventhough we lost power waaaayy before the others did.

Has any one else been in a situation like this?

Just feel lucky you don't have ROLLING BLACKOUTS! Actually I've gotten lucky and I think I've only been at home once during a blackout, and that was when we had blackouts last year before this whole power trouble started hitting hard.

And I don't think they're gonna be cutting the power to our workplace at Nasa Ames anytime soon... (though when we got back from the Chatsworth invitational there was a note on the door saying the power would be out June 23rd and 24th. We got back at about 5 pm on the 24th and we had power...)

I've only had a power outage a few times...but they're not for long b/c my nieghborhood, even though we're like four miles away, is on the same grid as the hospital. Oh well. At least we get our power back quick when it gets knocked out. Go FPL! lol

~Angela who would just run over to Kristen's house and use her comp if her power went out

I've only experienced one rolling blackout here in southern califiornia. It happened while I was at work around lunch time, so my boss took me out to lunch and when we got back the power was back

Needless to say, I have a 650VA UPS for my computer that gives me about 30 minutes of runtime. If a blackout ever happens, I'll just continue posting

Yesterday my power was out for awhile because of storms. Then the power came back on but there was still lightning. That's majorly annoying, the computer is right there but you can't use it. One year Williamsburg was out of power for a week and a half over Christmas. It was cold, we were all hungry, and we couldn't take showers, except for the people who lived in the golf couse communities and were out of power for about 2 hours. grrrrrrrr. We couldn't even have lights on our trees or listen to very much Christmas music, we had to conserve batteries for a week and a half.
C~ya,
Carolyn who now lives in "the lightning state".

Poor Califonians...

You'll notice that while you guys are having the rolling blackouts, EVERY light is on at the power plant.
