C.H.A.O.S. 131 originally came when the team was sponsored by OSRAM Sylvania and stood for Central High and OSRAM Sylvania...since we moved onto a different sponsor 2 years ago its been modified to Central High and Our Supporters. |

Re: Interesting team names
Our team nickname is Site 3 Engineering, or S3E.
When the team started and people were trying to come up with names, our arm operator threw out the name Side 3, which is a reference to the Gundam anime. This is how www.gundamofficial.com defines Side 3 in its glossary: "A cluster of space colonies, also called "Munzo," which is located at the stable region in Earth orbit known as Lagrange point 2. In U.C. 0058 Side 3 becomes the independent Republic of Zeon, and subsequently the Principality of Zeon, though the Republic is re-established at the end of the One Year War." We changed "Side" to "Site" and tacked on "Engineering" to make it more robotics related. I really like our name. Some people think it's kinda strange, but nobody has been able to come up with a better one that the whole team agrees with, so it's S3E for good. |

Stoney Creek was a brand new high school built two years ago and thankfully we were able to get a team started with the help of Ford sponsoring us. However, we only had 8 people join from the 900 some students that went to Stoney Creek, so we invited students from our crosstown rival, Rochester High to join our team and bring our number to 16 strong! That's how S.C.R.E.A.M. was born!!! |

Re: Interesting team names
Heres one team # and name that no one has seen or herd from since 2000. The combination that formed the one team # / name had split up to 2 seperate teams this way it would be a bit more competitive.
Rookie Year 2000 Team 371 C.M.O.S. = Curtis - Mckee - Omega - Supremes |

Re: Interesting team names
The origins of "The PINK Team"
Everybody asks us this question, "Why is your team pink?" Well this is why (according to some information I have gathered from team mentors and alumni from Team #233). When our team first started, there was going to be a meeting held to see what our team image was going to be; basically all spirit ideas would be discussed. The day the meeting was held, only three girls showed up. Knowing Mrs. Passmore (our team's head coordinator, also known as Mrs. P) said that since they were the only ones to show up, everybody else on the team did not care what would be decided as our team image. So the girls instinctively thought it would be funny to have a pink team. And so it was decided that the team would be entirely pink, even down to the robot. After the meeting, the girls graciously told the rest of the boys on the team that it was decided that the team image would be pink, and nothing but pink. Enraged, they told Mrs. P that this was "not cool" (I needed to censor what they actually said). But she told them that if they wanted there voice to be heard for a vote on the team image, they should have been to the meeting. And so the boys were forced to wear the pink shirts to competition, or they would get kicked off the team... no one left the team. After our rookie year, we got a few remarks from other teams. But eventually our reputation grew and we made this prank work to our advantage (as a team). ![]() Last edited by Gabe Salas Jr. : 06-04-2004 at 07:03. Reason: quotations, and spelling errors |

Re: Interesting team names
I heard of a team last year (in Chicago) called the FookNauts. Yeah, that's pretty funny, and they recieved our "Best Name" award last year.

Re: Interesting team names
I voted that 639 be named 'The Rude Awakening' after the top secret club I started in 4th grade, but they said it sounded too dark...pity.

Team 007 was kismet. The team decided that with an assigned number like that, why not use it? They've had a lot of fun with the theme the past couple of years. This year, the robot was named "odd job." ![]() |

Re: Interesting team names
Buzz: Buzz Lightyear and Toy Story were all the rage in 1996 (also Buzz Aldrin for a more practical reason)
NU-TRONS: Sponsors are Northeastern University (NU) and TEXTRON (TRON)... so it almost makes too much sense! If I were ever to start my own team, I'd like to name them "From the Primordial Soup" ![]() |
