tethers to both goals.

i was wondering, does any robot have tethers that can go to both endzones. Or maybe a tether that can be controlled to go to either endzone(not by facing a specific way but being able to shoot it out of the front or back or something like that)

329's "Mighty Mouse" can go into both endzones, its tether is 42 feet long, it moves faster then most robots and is steerable with great accuracy. Plus other things built in to be found out later .

we did

Team 25's Silver Scorpion reached zone to zone once this past weekend. We had a round against 2 dead robots and were able to run the score up that way. The device had a 360 degree aiming mechanism. Other rounds the long tether became a target for attack- including one memorable round where an opponent did a victory dance on top of it! The local TV news showed our mini-me running for home and then another robot flying up and stepping on it's tail. Ouch!!

You can see us in action at Brunswick Eruption on Nov 16th at our school in North Brunswick, NJ. Other than that our season is done (odd #).

TJ2 also has a really long roll out device. It might be able to go zone to zone. Look for them.

does the tether really count for both zones though? At the LSR, there was a robot that was in one zone that extended a tether device into the opposite zone---they only scored 10 points for the zone that their tether was in. Maybe it was just a scoring snafu, but I remember someone saying that only ten points counted for the region that your tether was in...?

Team 535 has a system that can score in either of the endzones independently or both at the same time.

During our first round at J&J Midatlatic Regional that was when our teathered device reached the far endzone while the robot was in the other endzone. We didn't want to try to use it the rest of the competition becasue it kept falling out. We are gonna fix it for Toronto though.

our robot can barely reach both zones, our tether being just 30 feet long. It's always been my understanding that if you are touching both zones, you score for both teams. Isn't that what woody said...?

Team 25...you guys did a great job at J&J, your robot was awesome...goal grabbing and teather were great...its not that easy trying to stop that little guy! TJ²'s roll out teather was also cool

Yes, you definitely count both zone scores. At the Long Island regional we sent our mouse from our home zone to the opponent's home zone to run up the score. (They had fallen over and their other bot wasn't too much help) We scored 20 points for our robot (10 in each zone), but as it turned out when their robot fell over, the very top was touching their home zone and we lost by ONE point. We learned a valuable lesson.

Our mouse was crushed in the last qualifying round by a goal, but was resurrected for the eliminations. We, now have Mighty Mouse ready for the Nationals (UNCRUSHABLE).
