Exclamation Battery Weight

Hey all,

When we weighed in at the LI Regional (with a 2002 battery) we were exactly at 130.00lbs! (we like to cut it close) One of our engineers had the idea to weight all of our batteries individually. This uncovered a suprising result. Our 2002 batteries were .8lbs HEAVIER than our 2001 batteries! So before you pull out the hole saw, you might want to try all of your batteries.

Just a thought...

Weird -
Ours were the other weigh around. (bad pun - sorry)

The old batteries outweighed the new ones by more than a pound.

I think that there are at least two different kinds of batteries from the 2001 season, and maybe two this season. I'm sure that different manufacturers batteries weigh different.

The new batteries have a higher amperage rating this year. This may be why they weigh different also you may want to see if they had shorter battery connector or less eletrical tape or somthing like that.

Those who have several years of batteries laying around will notice that this year's battery has a significant change in the topside design, and different (larger) output connectors.
Good Luck All

Our 2002 batteries were substantially similar to out 2000 and 2001 batteries, except they had an extra half an amp hour in the rating, and they are gray instead of white. The terminals are the same.

Also, I would recommend that teams use the newest batteries in competition. Less-used batteries generally have more capacity that well-used batteries.
