We had only 2 people on the animation this year, but one held the up-to-date models of everything on his computer. One night he was doing a test render of a project he was working on, and his computer fried, so we had to start over. Our final animation was done in my room over about 10 hours one night >.<

animation? team? From what I heard, some team's animation team are bigger than our total team. I did most of our computer stuff, like the website, and photography. Next year we hope to have an actual animation.

For the past two years i have been my team's sole animator, but for next year we will have at least two, including myself.

next year i'm going to animate, our team never really had an animator before, so i hope i can do it. if u guys have any suggestions or tips for getting me started, just IM me at looney23lin. thanks

we had 2 lead animators but at least 8 other kids were involved in some way (rendering, sound, small parts, etc)
i made skins for an number of the objects since i only know photoshop *but i'm determined to learn how to use 3DS Max!* |

We additionally have no animation team. The only year we tried it was our rookie year. We simply do not have the resources to do this. Granted, I would like to give animation a shot, but I already am going to have 2+ jobs on our team next year, so thats out of the question. Also, we have no one trained in anything even relating to animation, so that makes our cause even harder to fulfill.

I was the only one on our team, I wish I had spent more time over the summer. The reason I never finshed was because I was spending way too much time working on learning new techniques and different features. Even though I didn't finsh the whole animation, I felt I learned A LOT more than I would have just sitting at home.....

We have a four-man animation team. We're all essentially novices, but I was very much satisfied with the animation that we built, considering that we're rookies. We might get two more to join the animation team in 2005, but the way I like to run the department is without any mentors. We learn from eachother and it's really fun having a "guys' night" with animation parties in which you stay up till 4AM doing 3ds max... because you put the AVA entry on the backburner during the build season and had five days to do the entire thing.
I really don't think that the amount of people on your animation team really counts, though. With even one determined person, you can shell out some really hot stuff in the two months you have to work on it, compared to a group of ten people who don't put their heart into it. But, it's just better and friendlier when you have more than one person; you make really close friends with them throughout the season and when all's said and done, you have a very impressive, teamwork built animation entry--and teamwork is what it's all about, right? ![]() |

Hmm...I'd say we have about 2 people who are strictly animators because they suck at modelling, 2 main modellers who are really good at it, about 2 people who just learned this year and are getting good, and 1 texture artist. I'd say we have a very good animation team, except we're just a bunch of slackers, so we don't always do the work quickly
anyway, animation is awesome, and im lookin forward to it next year when i get to teach the new freshman interested in it. Need to make someone to carry on the Polymodeller's Anti-Boolean legacy ![]() to impulse3d: i see what your saying where w/ out a mentor, things run much smoother, but you need someone there who does this for a living to criticize your work seriously, and help you make it better Last edited by -PauL- : 15-05-2004 at 20:05. |

We had one artistically talented student tackle the annimation. Barbra Decarmo Learned the software and did the team's annimation, which the team takes pride in. She also is president of the school's art club and helped make a 3 person Bulldog, like a chinese dragon you'd see in a parade. It was great and got some attention at the UCF regional. I believe there were a total of 6 teams that did an annimation at UCF. Being one of the six ain't bad for our rookie year.
