Mars Rover on Car Talk!

Not exaclty "Televised Robotics" but there is no thread for "Radiovised Robotics."

I was listening to "Car Talk" on NPR today and someone from JPL called in and asked how to prepare an electric car for the winter. He said it was a "kit" car. When asked to elaborate he said it was a $400-milliion kit car. He went on to have a fun discussion with the hosts. Pretty neat...

Check out that program segment here:

Re: Mars Rover on Car Talk!

Funny, I wonder why JPL didn't think on how to keep the rover running in the winter? Anyway, It's nice to hear that Pikopendropof is still the chauffer.

The rovers were orginally designed to last 92 days (90 "sols" or Martian days). We didn't expect them to last so long that surviving Martian winter would ever be a problem!
