I use chiefdelphi to stay connected with friends on other teams and to offer my help with things that I might be knowledgeable about.

I use chiefdelphi to my brain "update" on FIRST community And I am the only one on our team that active on chiedelphi.

I usually check forum twice a day. Sometime I ask stupid questions or post some info just to participate This is a really nice and organized site.

Re: How do You Chiefdelphi?

I love the interaction. Sincere people willing to speak their mind and share ideas. What a better way to learn. I enjoy the insight of the students. being an old working guy, I have learned that instead of becoming a grumpy old man (NO comments from Team 188 or Karthik) I become encouraged and energized. ChiefDelphi extends the competition season year round and keeps me in touch with those that would like to lose track of me. I applaud the word done here and I am thankful for the priviledge of membership.

Re: How do You Chiefdelphi?

Comming from 2 active CD using teams, (263 and 229), I always have thought of CD as the place to come for answers. Now I help give the answers as a moderator and MechE mentor for team 229. If you were to ask me in 2001 when I joined FIRST where I would have been in 4 years...probably not what I would have said, but quite glad I got here.

As for reading CD threads...I usually do not read anything in chit-chat and stick to the more technical forums and off-season discussion.

I use it to look up stuff, of course, but I always use it to waste time during study hall, being that it's the only useful website I can get on, despite the school's websense.

Re: How do You Chiefdelphi?

Hello,

I come here for amusement, to provide knowledge of electronics, and mostly to get answers. It is like a large, evolving encyclopedia, with useless and useful topics. Sort of like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, except only applying to FIRST.

Re: How do You Chiefdelphi?

Reasons I go on Cheif Delphi:
1. To feel like I have a social life.
2. To get necessary information.
3. To make new buddies!
4. Lots of other reasons, but above all else, because FIRST rocks!

Re: How do You Chiefdelphi?

Basically this is where I just want to chat and see what is going on in the FIRST world. Any new ideas, what are other teams doing, whose got what type of robot, etc. That is what I come for.

I joined in about February of this year because a team mate showed me this. Its awesome that such a massive forum was made by one team, ChiefDelphi. It makes me wonder, who else had such an idea but never got around to doing it?

None the less, I ChiefDelphi for many reasons.

Re: How do You Chiefdelphi?

For entertainment purposes only... oops... wait a minute... that's why I use my Magic 8 Ball... I think ChiefDelphi is one of the best (if not the best) resources for FIRST. I use it for ideas for team spirit, Chairman's Award, outreach, fundraising... and it never fails to amaze me that so many people are so willing to share their ideas. I also use it to learn. When I used to do store openings and training, I was asked what I would do when someone didn't understand what I was teaching them. I said I would find another way to explain it. There are so many wonderful "teachers" on ChiefDelphi, and so many views on any subject, that even I, a well-known disliker of science and math, can learn how something works.

And it's fun! Face it, ChiefDelphi is just good company.

Heidi

Re: How do You Chiefdelphi?

1. Info....i don't think there is a better resource out there than ChiefDelphi. Recently I worked on a hovering robot, and had some programming/control system problems. I posted a thread, and within minutes, people had solved my problems.

2. Stay Updated....you'll learn things on ChiefDelphi much sooner than any other source.

3. It's good to be able to participate in discussion with intelligent people holding simular goals/ideas as you.

On ChiefDelphi, I:

> Give Help
> Get Help
> Stay in touch with people I've met through FIRST
> Talk about random geek-type stuff (i.e. welding with water )
> Try to reduce my episodes of FSAS (FIRST Separation Anxiety Syndrome)

Re: How do You Chiefdelphi?

I always pay attention to technical discussions to see what ideas I can pick up. And ChiefDelphi has given me plenty of ideas to think about. I also learn new things every day with discussions on chemistry, electronics, game design, ... (list goes on for infinity + 1 ). Its is a great resource for new teams and veteran team of FIRST, because it is open to everyone. ChiefDelphi is for people who think of robotics all day, all night.

Re: How do You Chiefdelphi?

I spend a fair amount of cruising CD to read and talk about various things; mechanical stuff, inventor, and any other random topics that come about. I have learned a large number of new facts by doing this. CD is a vibrant community, and I find it fun and informative to read posts by the other users on this site.
