Secondary Robots

For all those teams who are in the downtime between Regionals and Florida, has anyone been working on some cool side projects? Some members of my team are working on one. We got $1000 from Lucent to built a robot that can drive to any point we tell it by using GPS tracking. It looks very promissing, and we already have most of the parts needed to built it. If it's finished maybe we can bring it to Florida to show it off to everybody. We'll have to see if that will work out. So who else is doing something cool? I'd like to hear about some other interesting projects.

in the preseason...

In our preseason, a few of us divided into two teams to face a challenge from Lenox Laser. Both teams were to accomplish the same task, pick up and move a tennis ball over a 6" wall (impressive, huh?). One team ws to use pneumatic power and the other, electric. It was a great way to fill a few days afterschool, and in the end, we got to attend a catered (mmm... catering food) corporate party.

Ya' know what else is fun (though it doesn't invlove a robot, most likely)....
Use only five sheets of paper, 12 inches of tape, one golf ball, 1 lb. of sand, two paperclips, one marble, 12 in. of string and a mousetrap to create a device that will trigger the mousetrap as close to one minute after it's initiation as possible.
