[UFH]: Where have all the heroes gone?

When is the UFH coming back? I've been waiting and waiting. Also...I nominated someone...did you get my nomination? Thanks.

Re: [UFH]: Where have all the heroes gone?

There are many heros still out there, but perhaps... their aren't enough people out there who can vouch for the story of somebody else.

Howabout, hmmmmm... selecting members of Chief Delphi who have good rep, good posts, & ask them to write something up? I think more often than not, we'll be plesantly surprised with many of their stories, and it'll all be NEW information to us.

They are spotlighting all the Woodieflowers award winners for regionals, then the normal schedule for UFH will start I think in mid-June.

I have heard that UFH is expected to return on the 1st of June. I cannot wait to see who is the next Unsung FIRST Hero.

It kind of goes without saying that prior UFH's and WFA winners would not be honored with the UFH honor (again), but thanks for saying it.

John

We've received many good nominations from the ChiefDelphi.com community that are being put through our committee. We're currently looking for new ways to market our idea and ways to organize our growth. We have plenty of nominations at this time, but are always accepting them. Also, we do not include the nomination in the honoree's essay; the honorees write up their own information and submit it.

John's completely right. UFH's will never be honored twice. WFA winners will also not receive the UFH award, though we have been lucky enough to have two UFH honorees this year win the WFA (one won the national award).

Is this true for just the National WFA winners, or are Regional WFA winners also excluded to winning the UFH award as well?

If someone has been previously honored with an award for their service, such as the Unsung FIRST Heroes Award (previously) or a Woodie Flowers Award (of any type) they are not eligible to be a UFH honoree.

We honor those who are unsung - those without a trophy or a plaque to show their efforts. Those who may or may not get those things... but will still be on the sidelines, helping to guide FIRST in all the right directions.

Somehow, I knew you were going to say that....
