1.5 Liter bottles
Did anyone else notice that Coke has stopped bottling thier products in 2 liter bottles in favor of the new 1.5 liter bottles and selling them at the same price....
Does this bother anyone else as much as it bothers me? |

Re: 1.5 Liter bottles
Coffee companies have been doing this for years. Can gets smaller, price doesn't.

Re: 1.5 Liter bottles
Huh? I've seen nothing on this down here.
I've seen .5 liter bottles instead of 20-ouncers, but you can still get 20s around here. |

<splittinghairs>Actually, that's a decimal.</splittinghairs>
Like it has been said--they're looking for more money. And the media notices higher costs before it notices less product. Shame, ain't it? |

Re: 1.5 Liter bottles
I haven't seen these 1.5 liter bottles yet and we have a coke bottling plant 5 minutes from my house....maybe its a regional thing?
Anyway thats kinda like Wendy's 99 cent menu...they claim its never changed since they started it back in 88, but they have...a Biggie Coke for example the cup size has gone down a few ounces each year...i think they said something like the cup is only 3/4th of the original size...yet they charge more now then they did a few years ago for the larger size |

Re: 1.5 Liter bottles
Up here the bottles are still 2 Litres ... but I have noticed new bottle sizes of 710 mL. What I dont like is how the bottles got shorter and fatter (this was about a year ago in July last year). .. but whatever ...

Re: 1.5 Liter bottles
As far as bottled water goes, I have said many times that all water is the same.. and I don't drink much anyways.
But.. unfortunately, If I have to drink (bottled) water, I have gotten hooked on FIJI bottled water. I don't know why, but it does taste good for the rare times that I do drink water. Plus the bottles are square shaped (sort of) so they stack nicely (again, sort of). |

Re: 1.5 Liter bottles
Companies do this sort of thing all the time. Be careful of sales too. They will say "Buy 2, get one free" when really...it's not like that. The price of the item will be higher then it was a week ago and in fact, you aren't getting one free but paying the same price you would have the week prior. It's all in the selling and marketing department. Americans/Consumers don't pay attention to what they are buying alot of times and companies can get away with it.
If it bothers you...call Dateline and have them do a report on it because atleast then...people would know. I swear...if Dateline or 20/20 doesn't do a "special report" on it...people never know. |

Re: 1.5 Liter bottles
Actucally - 20/20 did a report on that. I think John Stossles (the give me a break guy) actucally did that with soap. Showed that in a matter of a year they reduced the size of a bar of soap by 1oz. When he went up to people and pointed that out they where kinda shocked - but would rather perfer that than paying more for the product.
I guess there isn't really a way to win when it comes to it. Eather pay more or get less... :/ |

I hope this makes sense. Actually maybe this will: Let's say a 20oz bottle of Dawn costs $1.99. Then let's say Proctor and Gamble decides to change the bottle to a 16oz but keep the price the same. Even though the price stayed the same the new 16oz Dawn is costing more per ounce than before. Which means with the price staying the same it was like you were getting an extra 4oz for free before. So per oz Dawn is more expensive now. |
