Poll : How much would you pay - Regionals?

There has been a lot of discussion around the new rates for 2005. Just thought I would put up a poll to find out how much your team would be willing to pay to enter a regional. There will be another for the championships. We will assume that this is for the first regional AND each additional regional would be at the same price. Please take into account that you do not have unlimited budget.

Poll will be open for 21 days only.

Edit - see post later post for clarification.

Re: How much would you pay?

If it included the first and additional regionals, I definetly be willing to pay more. (Speaking from my view of course. I can't speak for my team as a whole.) FIRST is a great thing, so even if it were more just for one regional, I'd be willing to still pay it.

Re: How much would you pay - Regionals?

I just edited my origional post. Basically I am saying that there would be 1 price that you would pay for each regional attended. Example - 1 regional $5,000.00, 2 regionals $10,000.00.

If you think that it should be only for the first regional let me know and I will edit to be such.

Thumbs up Re: How much would you pay - Regionals?

I voted other... I think we would pay what ever amount. FIRST is defenatly worth any amount of money any company gives. FIRST really puts on good events for us, and I can see where the money is going.

While FIRST might be worth what ever you can pay, however that's the problem a lot of times. A lot of teams recieve less and less money every year (us as an example). Certain teams can't afford to pay 6,7,8,9 thousand dollars.

Re: How much would you pay - Regionals?

So let me get this straight:
25% of the teams are dropping out, 25% are strapped for cash, and 25% are doing really well. Am I reading this right?

Re: How much would you pay - Regionals?

Maybe not. I have stated a price per regional. Some teams may feel that they can pay $10,000.00 for 2 regionals which would be $6,000.00 for 1 and $4,000.00 for 2. If they figured out this way they did not read the post correctly as it should be per regional. The first regional would cost the same as the 5th regional attended.

eg : 1 regional = $5,000.00
2 regionals = $10,000.00
5 regionals = $25,000.00

Lets try to keep the replies on your team's view point before we move further into the discussion. The question asked "how much your team would be willing to pay to enter a regional". I am not trying to hold back discussions in this matter, but I believe it will be constructive if we hear more people's answer on what their team will do before we go back to the big picture and talk about "what do you think FIRST should charge for regionals".

Lets take this discussion one step at a time before people fall back into the traps of arguments again.

I agree. While there will be controversey from differing viewpoints (That's why he's asking), let's try to keep it to civilized debates instead of all-out arguments. (Is that possible?)

Isn't there another thread about what you do to fundraise?
