Any teams ever try collaborating on a fundraiser of any kind?? (besides mini-comps)

If so, what kind of fundraiser was it? (Mini-Comps not included - I know teams collaborate on those all the time, and I'll leave that for another thread!!)

How was the money that was raised split between the teams?

How did it work out overall?

Any problems, concerns (not specific to the fundraiser, more to the collaboration between FIRST teams aspect of the event.)

Re: Any teams ever try collaborating on a fundraiser of any kind?? (besides mini-comps)

In 2003 season we got a deal where we were paid to run a robot in a parade in LA. None of our robots were up to the task so 980 graciously let us "rent" theirs. Everything worked fairly well. We let 980 in on some money for doing nothing really, we got some money with someone else's robot, so it was pretty much a win win type of deal.

i know our team isn't ever yet-- but it def. would have to be with a team really close by--in the same town--

i think though u can together do like a garage sale--really big and then just split the money even-- or even silent auctions might work

you can maybe also get companies fundraisher stuff and do them together

good luck to all teams in fundraisher

One good way of working that out is to orginise the events togeather, and if you are in two diferent towns, you can both run the fundraisers in your own town. This works well becouse most of the hassle is trying to figue out what to do and how to set it up, if that part is collaberated on then the actuall running isn't that hard, it takes some of the pressure off of both sides, lets the teams work togeather and there aren't any hard feelings or squables about who had more students there, or did more work, or anything else because the teams are seperate when the acctual money is being made.

Re: Any teams ever try collaborating on a fundraiser of any kind?? (besides mini-comps)

For the past couple years several of the WI FIRST teams have collaborated on a Raffle. Each team usually provides one or two prizes and we sell the tickets and draw it at our WI pre-ship open house. Prizes have ranged from computers to TVs to cash. Im not 100% sure on all the details, but I do know that Team #537 usually coordinates the effort, and the other teams 'buy' the tickets from them, and then we all sell them at the same price and keep the money. Tickets are also sold at the door at the open house and the profits are spilt. We have made anywhere from $2500-$3500 on this each year.
