Suitcase Segway

Anyone happen to read this month's issue of Popular Science? They mentioned a contraption which held suitcase, but at the same time was also ridable, in a Segway-kind-of-way. This would be pretty handy to have for those of us that like to arrive at the airport late .

Just curious.. does anyone know if Dean Kamen created this? Or is it the creation of another company, based on the idea of the Segway?

(Tried to find a picture.. But was unsuccessful)

So, is there even any room for anything else to fit in that "suitcase", besides the parts for this?

I saw somethinhg like this a long time ago, but it opened up into a more of a go-kart type riding device. I'll try to find a pic of it if there is one on the internet.

(I saw it way before the internet was born - to the public anyways)

Re: Suitcase Segway

I would guess that some airports may have issues with it due to security reasons.

That and the fact that airports do not really like any batteries aboard the planes other than for portable electronics.

The design seems kind of pointless for the amount of clothing you could fit in the thing.

Re: Suitcase Segway

Hasn't anyone bothered to read it? it doesn't have batteries; it has fuel cells (which as far as airplanes go is worse). It's supposed to be sci-fi tech today. It is a concept, not an actual product.

Re: Suitcase Segway

Yes I read the article. Infact I got the Pop Sci magazine last week.

According to J. Douglas Field, CTO, Segway; he thinks the design will need batteries in order to be cost effective!

well...for now that is... who knows whatll come out in a couple years..
while this briefcase thing is interesting, they should just have those "escalator but doesnt go up or down" walkway thingys run the entire length of the airport. that would make things so much faster and easier.
and why not have a goped stuck onto a briefcase. same thing... probably easier too.
