Battlecry Congrats/Thanks

This thread is to group all battlecry @ WPI 5 thanks and congrats together. First off, I would wish to thank our alliance partners, THe Birds of Prey, you guys were awesome. I would also like to thank every other team that showed up; We didn't have an easy match all day and I had a great time. In particular, I would like to thank teams 237 (TRIBE/Sie-H20-Bots) and 571(Team Paragon) for providing me with what I needed when I was sent scrounging through the pits. Finally, thanks to everyone who helped put this event together, you did a great job.
Congrats to Andy Grady for winning the Battlecry star and to all teams which received an award and just all teams in general. I'm already anticipating next year.

Re: Battlecry Congrats/Thanks

I want to thank the WPI folks for putting together a FANTASTIC comp. I just love the evening + Saturday schedule. One day events are sooooo fast passed and hectic!! Going in on Friday and running just 2 qual matches on Saturday was great.
Whoever thought of this should be given an award!!!

Thanks again WPI for a smooth running comp.

Re: Battlecry Congrats/Thanks

I would personally like to thank Tyler from the WPI machine shop! Without him, we would never have made it past the eighth finals! Our hook (which some of you know is notorious at becoming nearly irreparibly damaged, had its rachet break. Without this little piece of 3/8 " channel stock and saw blade, we can't hang, because this rachet prevents us from sinking back down to the platform. Since the entire hook assembly is a ghetto-rigged hack job, we had no replacement part. Tyler graciously donated his time, expertise, and aluminum to mill us a brand spanking new rachet. And with just one little corner modification to make it fit, it worked many times better than the original rachet! Thank you so much! You saved our alliance!

We would like to thank Team 562. We broke our drive train and they jumped right in there to help us fix it. If it weren't for them, we wouldn't have gotten through our last qualification matches!

Re: Battlecry Congrats/Thanks

I just want to send out a few thank you's...

First I want to thank WPI for allowing me to take part in this years Battlecry. It was an absolutely amazing event this year, rivaling most regional competitions in excitement, production, and competitiveness. Battlecry has truely become the premere offseason event in New England and beyond...I'm proud to have been a part of it.

Second, I would like to thank all my teams and former teams for nominating me for the Battlecry Rising Star award. I was completely honored by the award, yet even more honored to have worked with such a wonderful group of students and mentors in my 10 years.

Finally, I want to thank all the teams and staff members who made Battlecry such a great event. If not for your spirit, I would not have the energy to make it through the competition. Keep bringing that excitement and spirit, and FIRST will become what we all want it to be.

Have a great summer!

-Andy Grady

Our pleasure, and thank YOU for the cool little award you gave us!

Luckily our robot has yet to sustain any real damage, so we've had a few opportunities to help out others. That's what FIRST is all about!

Thank you to team 1027 for helping us fix our drive train, helping us to earn the Purple Heart. You truly exemplified Gracious Professionalism. I also want to give a big thanks to Jessica Boucher and the other people doing cueing. You guys were always running around, making sure things ran smoothly (which I'm assuming wasn't easy considering my team and others that were late for qualifying matches). I had a lot of fun at Battlecry and I'm looking forward to going again next year.

To all the teams (especially the ones who were on the blue side for any extended period of time):

You kids are always a joy to be around. This was, hands down, the most fun I had at a competition this year, on and off season. Battlecry has been the gold standard for off-seasons, and it gets better each year: I can't wait for the next one!

Remember, "I only yell at you because I love you"

Yes, I nominate Team 1027 for the Most Helpful Team of the Competition Award.

The problem:
One drill motor with a broken clutch, and only about 20 minutes until our next match.

The solution:
Team 1027 to the rescue! They supplied us with a new half of a drill motor, help us reach into the guts of our robot, and replace the broken clutch. We made it to the match, and the motor worked great for the next match and a half! (Then we lost and were eliminated )

Team 1027 is GP incarnate.

MrToast

(And congrats to 177 and 181 for a fantastic win!)
