Re: cruise lines

I voted for Royal Carb. because it's the only one I have been on. My family went in Jan. (yes during build season ) and we had a blast. I went on the navigator of the seas and there was so much to do I didn't even see my brothers or parents all day. Highly recommend any of the Royal Carribean ships.

Re: cruise lines

I absolutely loved Princess last year when I went to Alaska. I think their ships have a great combination of elegance and class, and fun. I know the average age is pretty high, but I met some really great people that I still talk to, and I had *TONS* of fun.

I would reccomend a cruise to anyone, no matter what line you take.

Re: cruise lines

I'll be taking my first cruise in August, and it will be Princess. We seriously considered Norwegian, but ended up with Princess because their brochure was much more informative and offered up some interesting options. We're doing an 11 day Cruise tour called The Heart of Alaska, which gives us four days on land and 7 days on the ship. My preference would have been renting a car and doing Alaska by land (well, by ferry sometimes too), but as a compromise, we chose the land tour and picked some really cool excursions for the cruise part (horseback riding in the rain forest in Juneau, and taking a sea plane up in Ketchikan, Klondike Summit in Skagway).

Re: cruise lines

Voted for other mainly because I've never been on a cruise, but earlier this year my grandmother took a cruise on the new Queen Mary 2 and absolutely loved it. I'm not quite sure what cruise line it is though, maybe Cunard.

Re: cruise lines

The only cruise line I've ever been on was Royal Carribean.. I went during winter. Anyways, I recommend staying at an all-inclusive resort rather than a cruise. Maybe the cruise is all-inclusive.. but right once you get off that boat, you have to spend money to do stuff, generally. I've been to the Beaches: Negril (Jamaica) resort, and I personally thought that was a better time due to the lack of schedules. With a cruise, you're stuck on a schedule and you have to be back by a certain time or your ship will have sailed Anyways, the cruise was pretty fun.. there was more to do on it than at a resort.. but we missed one of the stops due to the weather. Oh, and I was on the Majesty of the Sea, I think.

Re: cruise lines

My opinion is that if you go on a large cruise ship to the Caribbean during the summer, it will be AT LEAST ten (10) times better (at least) than any other cruise.

I have been on Holland American's Veendam, Royal Caribbean's Majesty of the Seas (twice), Soverign of the Seas, Monarch of the Seas, and Enchantment of the Seas.

Since my family has been on our thirtieth cruise, we would all say that Royal Caribbean is by far the best. Carnival would be close behind for younger people but not for older. Holland American would be for older.

Young people, GO TO THE CARIBBEAN DURING THE SUMMER! not Alaska during the summer and deffinitly not Alaska during the winter. I just got back from one and I counted how many people I met. I counted 107. I now talk to 11 of them on AIM. Out of the 107 that I met, 96 were girls, 10 were guys, and 1 I am not sure about. (I only talked to him once.) I danced with most of the girls. I didn't count cause I was too busy dancing.

You actually counted how many people you met?

Seriously though, what's wrong with meeting 107 people? Thats a darn lot if you ask me. I probably didnt meet more than 30 or 40 and I dont think I could have had anymore fun than I did. It's not like you're going to remember all the hundreds (or hundred) people that you met anyways.

Alaska is a great place to see, and I would reccomend it to anyone. The average cruiser there is a lot older, but it isn't a party destination like the Carribbean, so that is to be expected.

I think it's safe to say you would enjoy yourself wherever you go!

[edit] as far as I know, no cruise line visits Alaska in the winter... Who wants to go somewhere with less than six hours of daylight, that isn't even light? Not to mention the freezing cold.

That sounds like my bedroom. But I was joking about that. You're right, I think that everyone would enjoy any cruise.
