i heard the championships were moving to Indy

wait...wrong thread...sorry

anyways...the Purdue University Regional should be fantastic. Think: IRI quality teams at an official regional

I guess we just have to hope that hammond and the thunderbots dont' create the SuperAlliance again and run the field.

Is it just me-or is it kind of pointless to hold 2 regionals within 50 miles of each other on the same weekend? One or the other is gonna go wayy down in attendence.

Not necessarily. If you have an area with enough teams to support 2 regionals worth of teams on the same weekend, then both could be packed. Plus, when you have regionals that are "wayy down in attendance" from local teams, you usually end up with teams traveling from farther away to attend. It's really not a problem to fill two regionals, like that. Almost every regional is filled to capacity each year, no matter what the circumstances.

or maybe if there are that many teams in one area there could be a super regional like the canadian regional that way you can accomodate all the teams in the area on ONE weekend.....hmmmm just a thought, I know that certain areas are thinking about it...

Re: 2005 Regionals

Thats probably it, because i remembered hearing talks of NJ possibly becoming a Super Regional. So i guess to take away from that they made LI the same time.

Of course they will both be packed still, but some teams expected at NJ, might go to LI now.

And i am pretty sure there wont be any teams traveling to the NJ regional, because the new Midwest regional is happening then, aswell as SOcal happening the weekend after, i doubt any teams do both coasts at once. And Florida is the week before too, so i dont expect them to travel up.

You've got to remeber that there are actually four regionals within a close radius. New York City, SPBLI, UTC, and the New Jersey regional are all within a close area. So yeah it's probably always been like this for at least three years.

I remeber that they held SPBLI and the NYC regional on the same week so it's probably not the reason why. The team map shows it's possible to support three regionals going at once in the same area.

Re: 2005 Regionals

sorry to be all mean and mad and stuff... but... BOO NEW REGIONALS!!! i mean, i guess its good that First is expanding and everything, but its almost like watering out competition, and teams and matches that may have happened, that made UTC so great, this year IMO, but sadly it only had 36 teams. If there was a way to up that # isntead of kill it down, i think it would make things like Regional Champs mean more. but like i said i guess the expansion is a good thing.

*edit* also with the upping of the prices to attend competitions, some teams might only be able to attend one, instead of two. so that might also kill attendance.

interesting that you say you would win the lv regional, if there is one ofcourse... well if homefield advantage means anything at a FIRST regional, then i think my team has a pretty good chance. ALSO, did you know your team number is Las Vegas's area code? so WHEN IS FIRST GOING TO ANNOUNCE THE OFFICIAL REGIONALS ALREADY??
