Just wondering if anyone on Chiefdelphi.com got one of these wooden buttons in Atlanta from us this year (2004), and if you did, what number did you get?

I got a wooden 237 button off a mentor's shirt (it was very nice of him to give it to me) during the quarter finals in Archimedes. I have number 80.

We made them in the wood shop at the high school our team is based out of. The wood shop teacher is the head advisor of Team 237. The clips on the back were purchased commercially and glued on.

Having a shop teacher involved with a team works out real well especially when you need something fabricated and the team has access to tools (and the shop).

Close.. But well.. not close too...

We actually bought the stars from a wood place up in Maine. They have a bunch of various shapes, and in a pinch, the star seemed like a cool shape to go with.
(If anyone wants the name of the place, I can try and remember it or find out)
edit: http://www.caseyswood.com/index.html

We ordered 500 of them, and then one of our sponsors (who has had 3 kids in the FIRST program at our school and is a great help whenever we need it) made the star shaped stickers for us.

Then we put the stickers on, and put the pin backings on with super glue, but some of the backings fell off. As you can see in the picture, the glue formed domes where the holes were on the pin backings. On some of the pins, the glue gave way and the pin backings fell off, so in Atlanta we re-attached them by remelting the glue and smearing the domes flat. If you have domes on the back, it's an original "made in CT" glue job, if is smeared on the back, it was redone in Atlanta in the pits.
(Just a bit of trivia there in case you were wondering)

(And by "we" I mean the students. I wasn't there to help for that project. )

As for the "X of 500 - Limited Edition", one of the students on the team hand wrote all 500 pins like that.

edit: Oh, and by the way. Besides number 68, I also have numbers 397 & 435.

I think one of our teacher/advisors had #1 and the other had #237. Not sure who got which one though.
