Talking Web Hug 2002

As we plan for the Epcot experience we need to decide how to get the BEST Web Hug ever.

I am open to any and all ideas.

Place?

Time?

Creative experience?

Web Hug

Opps!

I should explain this............

The web Hug is a meeting of all persons that uses these boards at Epcot. We have meeting to see the actual faces behind the messages. A great experience. I give a very short, very short update about the website and future plans.

At the end we all gather in one large mass group hug to start the competition.

This is the unifiying of the "Community of FIRST".

Last year there were between 75-100 people.

I plan a loud speaker (amp) this year so all can hear.

My goal this year is 200 forum users.

Lets have fun! I need help in the planning.

Webhug 2002

Place: Probably needs to be a large area, there seems to be a lot of CD posters now a days and who knows how many will show up

Time: Maybe during a lunch period

Idea: Anyone remember the "Sumo" matches post from awhile back?? We could have a team (local or team going down with a trailer) rent one set of Sumo outfits (might be kinda $pricey$) and we could all vote on what 5 matches out of the ones listed that we would want to see... Personally, i think this might be a funny thing to see at the end of the whole webhug thingy

XRaVeNX is an unknown quantity at this point
Send a message via ICQ to XRaVeNX
Someone should contact FIRST and see if they can add it to a handout they give to people. They're probably gonna give a little package to all the teams. So, include a sheet that says when this Web Hug would be.

An Introduction Perhapse ?

I attended my first web hug last year and was a little disappointed only because I couldn't put names with many of the faces (except for Ken, the pink hair made it easy

It might be kinda' cool if we form a circle early in the webhug and quickly intoduce ourselves so we can place a face on those that we conversed with.

As much as I will probably get refuted for saying this...

can we please have it friday? Or maybe after rounds are over on thurs?

237's alums dont get there until mid-thurs, and if anyone wants me to deliver more cookies then the best place to do so would be at the webhug.

Thats all

Question after thursday rounds?

I've always looked forward to Web Hug at Nationals... It's one of the reason why I go to Nats every year!!!

Really great chance to meet fellow posters and see what they look like, before going around the pit looking at robots and shaking people's hands... So, we've got to get as many people for this as possible!

The thing about thursday is, there are always practice round through out the day, and no lunch break... And friday is really when competition is intense, and people want to be with their team at all time...

Mean while, we might need quite some time for web hug if we are going to do the introduction thing. So...

I say the best time could be after thursday practice matches when everyone is done fixing the robot, and just a little bit before Dinner. That way, some of us can even decide to go out to dinner together if we want to.

Any time after that is just too much trouble for everyone...

What do you think?

200 people at 10 seconds an introduction means 33 minutes of introductions.
Anywho, I look foward to the webhug. After rounds on Thursday sounds like a good time to me. Lunch I'm kinda wavery on...If I don't eat then, I wont eat at all prolly.

Just my copper.

what about a morning??

I remember last year, I think it was on that Saturday morning before the opening ceremonies, that there were many people not doing much and dancing in front of the Einstein Stage. That could be a good time, or perhaps Friday morning. Just some ideas, but unless a team is doing some desperate changes to their robot at those times, most people won't be too busy.

From the caveman talk to Adam:

"Morning bad, afternoon gooood"

I say name tags shall do nicely, and I'm sure there are some of us who will be recognized with our absurdly colored hair...
