You're not alone. I was wondering the same thing. I haven't gotten any invites for almost a month now. I have been using the account so it's not like it's dormant. I'm wondering what Google is up to. As far as I know Gmail hasn't gone public yet. The one thing I thought of is that they wanted to give out so many accounts to see how the service is and any possible bugs before fully releasing Gmail. We may be thier "guinea pigs".

I have an update I'd like to share. A friend of mine that works in Computer Science mentioned in passing a worm that has targeted Google. This worm works essentially by messing up search engines and targeting them and sites you visit through them and their directories and their links. I don't know if I have the precise info, but that seems to be the gist of it. If anyone noticed that google was running slower, that was the reason. It's altogether possible that it is a potential problem for their email server as well. Just something to keep in mind, someone may have more info.

Yes, there was a worm going around that targeted Google, Lycos, Yahoo and some of their properties, but I "think" it is long gone... Search for "google worm" for more info on it...
