Even the new teams here are tough, 1071 was part of team 228 probably since their 2nd or 3rd year, and from what I hear in general from some people here we are not the only team like that. Every region has some teams that have a lot of experience or that are fairly new but just hit the nail on FIRST robots, but the odds are a team that is pretty much average in the northeast would do better somewhere else. but that's how I feel and a few of my teammates feel.

this thread might help you out. although it's silly, and towards the end ended up being midwesterners vs. northeasterners, some good and researched information on the regions of robotics occured in the first few pages, that might help out where your team is looking to go to do better. you might also find some amusement in reading some of the experienced and respected people both in FIRST and CD arguing like schoolkids.
by the way, the midwest seems to be quite the region to beat, but i'm not starting this all up again.
