Re: pic: Xbox... On the bus to atlanta
What's the wattage rating on the inverter too?? Is it a simple 200W one (size of an original game boy), or a big bad 1000W one (size of a small laptop)?

Re: pic: Xbox... On the bus to atlanta
it could handle 150 watts and we did some calculation the tv took 60 and the xbox we assumed would be less than 60 so it was within the limit. one robot batery ran the thing for 4 hours each

Re: pic: Xbox... On the bus to atlanta
That's coolness. And props for the Duke controller. (I can't survive using the S...but that's me. I digress.)

Re: pic: Xbox... On the bus to atlanta
how did you do it exactly because my team really wanted to do that but didn't think that the robot battery was an effective solution.

Re: pic: Xbox... On the bus to atlanta
Is that Project Gotham Racing, if not, what game is that?
Good set up, hopefully we will have the same setup when I camp outside of the Philly apple store when it opens.... ![]() |

Re: pic: Xbox... On the bus to atlanta
Personaly I see 2 problems with this setup...
1) You are not playing Halo at the moment of the picture. (halo is good for hours and hours on end) 2)A "hug-a-bear" controller is being used instead of the S. (penny arcade) 1 good point though... The game is not Project Gotham 1. ( It is THE MOST unforgiving game you will EVER play) Definitly a sweet setup. And I am pretty sure it would fly with airlines too, as long as size restrictions for carry-on were met (and volume during flight). I definitly need/ want an inverter like that!! Good job /Note to self... I person brings Xbox in carry-on, other brings TV.... |

Re: pic: Xbox... On the bus to atlanta
This is no biggie, All it takes is a connector the same as the batteries have and an inverter from nearly anywhere. Best places I've found for pricing is Menards and Target at around $20 for a decent sized one, the connector you can get from many places for about $10? I was on my laptop which only has a 2-3 hour battery for more than 8 hours in the dome, in the middle of the crowd. I was using a couple of power packs by xantrex, they each have a 300 watt inverter and when tied together the inverter could easily run my laptop and others and the charger to my video camera all day. Then I let it charge over night and was ready to go. I've used them on trips and out camping. I jsut got a 2500 watt inverter and I'm getting ahold of 2 135 amp batteries (like the robot but much, MUCH larger and should be able to run everyone's laptops all weekend. Look for the guy plugged into a cooler looking device at Westmichigan and Greatlakes and Atlanta, if my team goes.

Re: pic: Xbox... On the bus to atlanta
ok first of all Dont knock on the Orignal big controler it is the best design ever and people like me can comfprtable fit there hands arround it. second of all We were playing need for speed underground for like 10 minutes witch happened to be when this picture was taken. and the whole setup cost us nothing. we just scavanged the components. the aligator clips were the same ones that we have melted 5 or 6 times and kept changing the wire. the inverter is somthing we had, the tv is somthing we had and the powerstrip is somthing we had and the xbox is somthing we had. We came up with the idea and pulled our recorces togeather to do it.
Bus ride to atlanta........................................... ..............$4000 robot Batery............................................ .....................$0 INVERTER.......................................... ...........................$0 aligator clips............................................. ....................$0 TV................................................ ..............................$0 xbox.............................................. ..............................$0 Playing Halo At 80 Miles Per Hour on the florida turnpike....... Priceless |

Re: pic: Xbox... On the bus to atlanta
so all you need is 1 robot battery, 1 power inverter and wire to connect the battery and inverter?

On our trip to Atlanta we had like a caravan of van's. My van had a PS2 hooked up to a little TV console thing with a power inverter already in it. I think you way is way more cool. haha I wonder if my team could make a whole fleet of those for nats next year for all of our VANS!!!! I hope we get a bus next year though, but that's besides the point. That thing rocks!
