Re: Foreign Regionals
Italy would be awsome. Every part of Italy is beautiful. Plus everyone is so nice there and it would totally make it fun to have a regional there.

Re: Foreign Regionals
first of i have been to israel many times and even in the past few years...Israel is safe, it is just that all you hear about is the bad stuff that happends. when infact there is less crime then new york city. but i doubt the israel regional because of the shabbat. unlike the us where everything is open all the time. on shabbat in israel EVERYTHING shuts down. so from friday to saturday night nobody could work and i think it would be hard to find a venue.
but on a side note if there is an israeli regional i will be the first person to volenteer! |

Re: Foreign Regionals
Joe is exactly right: Who says the regional is for us?
![]() I like that idea. |

Re: Foreign Regionals
Mexico definately makes the most sense, there are a lot of newer teams springing up down there.

Re: Foreign Regionals
Israel already has many student robotic teams. They just aren't FIRST. Every year, Israel sends many teams to the robot/firefighting competition at Trinity college in Conn., for starters. They save money by staying with host families. My in-laws have hosted dozens over the years.

Re: Foreign Regionals
If there will be enough Israeli teams, I would have to place my bets on an Israeli regional, because at least with Brazil, Mexico, and Ecuador they are in the same hemisphere.

Re: Foreign Regionals
I think it will be in Brazil. There were rumours about a Brazil regional for 2005 earlier last year and a whole thread on how it was going to happen.

Re: Foreign Regionals
I am hearing from a hopefully very reliable source that the Israeli regional is for real. But as said earlier, I don't think it is specifically for us. Who knows? Guess we will find out soon enough.
Still wish there was an Italian regional. ~ Jill |

Re: Foreign Regionals
I know a speaker at they VCU reginal said that there was an Israeli team forming.
I think the easiest to start, governmently, would be an Italian reginal. I shure do hope for a regional in Israel. That would be awesome! If I had money for a plane ticket, I would seriously consider going. |

Re: Foreign Regionals
to suggest another location... Why not UK?!
IT would make sense in some aspects .. ... eg the language is the same, its in Europe, so all the European teams could come, its safer than places such as Israel (no offense intended) and its easy for referees or anyone who wanted to come over from America to get here £0.02 ![]() |
