Re: Foreign Music
I took German for a few years and went to Germany between my junior and senior years of high school. It was an absolute blast, and I was exposed to a lot of German culture. One thing we all learned was the traditional drinking songs and popular music on the radio, because people would come back from the bars at night and go past our hotel, or we'd see them in the subways and streets of Munich. I have a few songs still saved from that trip which are really cool.
Going back to my heritage, I am Polish and have a somewhat strong background. From that, I know a few broken phrases and such, and a handful of songs. |

Re: Foreign Music
I've listened to a few Finnish bands (Nightwish, and some other forgot the name of). My friend also gave me a CD once that has some foreign (not sure which language) rapping on it. Hm...I still have the CD. ** goes to listen to it **

Re: Foreign Music
A band called 'Jumbo'. It's spanish rock. Great stuff. It's hard to find CDs in stores though. I'll have to buy them online.
edit: No, I don't speak spanish like my name implies. Last edited by Jeff Rodriguez : 13-09-2004 at 20:32. |

Re: Foreign Music
I listen to a fair amount of Irish and Celtic stuff. I know a few Irish folk tunes, myself -- whenever my dad's side of the family gets together (read: they're all, 100% 3rd generation Irish American) they tend to drink lots of ... soda ... and wind up singing Irish folk songs. A lot of them. Very loudly. Enter my cousin, the professional Irish step dancer, my dad's 'famous' corned beef & cabbage -- it's a lot of fun!

Re: Foreign Music
Hmm.. I listen to Spanish ditties, the kind that you'd probably see in a Sing-A-Long video.. Also, some Filipino rap (if you want to hear some good, but mainstream, rap, listen to "The Apl Song" by Black Eyed Peas) and rock as well. The names of the bands are slipping my mind.

She's crazy about that stuff.Anyways though, more foreign bands I like are: H.I.M. (His Infernal Majesty) Avril Lavigne (Dunno if she counts as foreign, she's from Canada though) X-Japan (now disbanded though...:'() Mardriel (I don't know if the spelling is right...I'm doing this off the top of my head) Dir En Grey (To me, this is a great Japanese band) ** X-Japan and Madriel(sp?) are both J-Punk I believe. Either that, or J-Rock ** And some others (drawing blanks all day today, so I can't think of to much right now) |

Granted the only two songs that I have heard from them are Lords of the Boards, and Open your Eyes.. but.. German?? Whoa.. Heavy.Anyways.. I'm kind of dull when it comes to music. Well.. Let me put this another way. I have a very eclectic taste in music, but it is mostly a lot of American and/or Americanized music. As for Foreign Music, I enjoy a lot of euro-pop and techno house songs mixed at places like Creamfields in Liverpool, and @ Home in Space in Ibizia, by artists like Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold, Seb Fontaine & Timo Maas. edit: When it comes to a classicly loved(?) Foreign Song, one has to mention Dahler Mehndi - Tunak Tunak Tun for sure.. ![]() For all you 3D Studio Max lovers out there, this video should be right up your alley. It looks like the whole thing was made using 3DSM. ![]() Last edited by Elgin Clock : 16-09-2004 at 01:15. |

Re: Foreign Music
They're from Germany, as far as I know. My neighbor's cousin came over from germany and they were her favorite band. She said they were german and the only other person I know that knows who the Guano Apes were is my friend from England. So i'm assuming if they're not from Germany then somewhere in Europe.

I'm suprised no one has said Rednex. They're a Sweden band, and we all know their song "Cotton-Eyed Joe"
