We are having the 2nd Annual MD State Fair Demonstration and Competition from 8/22/2002 - 9/2/2002. The first 8 days we run demonstrations for the public and special guests of the fair. All robots are required to be there. The teams are encouraged but not required to be there for those days. The last 3 days (Labor Day Weekend) we run a full competition. Last year 11 teams showed up, and everyone had a great time! Many teams found more sponsors and almost 500,000 people passed through the gates throughout the week. In addition, we gave away almost $18,000 in cash prizes for the teams and scholarships for the students, and we are looking to do the same this year!
Entry fee is display of the team's robot for the first days of the fair and a non-refundable fee of $250. Each team receives about $500 for participating in the entire fair in addition to any money won through the competition or through engineering awards.
We are looking for 28 teams this year. Registration opens at the beginning of May, and Scholarship Applications are due July 1 for participating students.
