Oddly enough I think that not dying my hair would be a brg shock to everyone this year... heh I'll pfolly still end up dying it some kind of way... I just don't know what I will do as yet.

My team talked about dying our hair so we could stand out. However, i had a revelation one day while eating lunch with some of the other volunteers at LA regional. Sitting next to Bill Gold (blue-green hair), Ken Leung (orange hair), and Dima ( bright red hair), i actually felt far more unusual having decided not to dye my hair. <--(blonde logic)

I dye it red each year. The rest of the team does spray their hair. They're not as dedicated.

Hair Glue

I was at supercuts and found this stuff by ICE that is colored hair glue, if you wanna spike your hair and have some color it's great, and youve got a helmet for hair. They have a bunch of different colors, and it's not too expensive about $7. I used the Blue Stuff in the New York regional, and that talking robot thing they had there cracked on me for it, lol. I might think of using some MAnic Panic, but I don't know how long it will last, anyone know?

I used Special Effects(blue) the first weekend in December. Special Effects last longer but has better color then Manic Panic. I had colored hair until a month or so ago, when it finaly became unoticable unless you really looked.
Because it was blue it was bluish-grey for a few weeks.
Its fun, and you can always just redye it if you need normal hair faster.

Question only for competition?

You guys only dye your hair for competition? thats goofy! at the moment my hair is orange, but before that it was green, blue, purple, dark pink, red.
for all you first time users. special effects works the best, as Wetzal(?) said above. bleaching hair first is a good idea to get the color to stay in longer. and if you get the dye on your cheeks, real bleach works great.

p.s. dont try to dye your eyebrows. it's really really hurts your eyes.

I dyed my hair in December, well away from any competion.
And you can edit your previous posts. There is an edit button below the post to the right.
I also am blessed with blonde receptive hair. No bleach for me.

I died my hair about 3 weeks b4 our regionals... but that wasnt for the competition... and just to let ya know, the red in the Loreal chunking kit fades by the end of like a week. *sigh* Manic panic this time.. i'm tryin' Infra red.. looked cool on the sample... Anywayz,
Our coach/ tech dept. head said he'd bleach his hair blonde again if we could take 1st at regionals and go to nats.. too bad we didnt get that one to happen, but we have the same deal next year, or maybe it was something else, i donno, but our plan is to have a teacher with bleach blonde( maybe an outrageous color if we get our way) to be walkin' around the school.
I think every team should have a deal like this with their coach... it adds a great sub plot to the competition.
*hugz to all as alwayz*

Our head enginner promised to shave his head if we won at VCU. Sadly, he still has his hair.

buying dye

me and some of my teamates decided to color our hair for nats. we went to the local hair supply store to get dye. we were gonna bring it down to florida with us and put it on there with last years new tradition of opening up a barbar shop in our hotel room (last year we shaved jessy's head, leaving only a curly looking mohawk thing). after about a half an hour in the store trying to figure out what exactly we needed we asked for help and didn't really get any. after reading instructions on the 57 different types of dye's we decided to go with just the good old spray. the dye is just to complicated for punks like us.......

Bill Enslen is on a distinguished road
Talking MOE Green

Last year was my daughter's first year with the Miracle Workerz, and about half a dozen of them came over to my house to bleach their hair before dyeing it MOE Green. While they were chilling out in the rec room, I bleached my hair, too! This was the day before they left for Florida, and I had to go to work the next day.

Anyway, while explaining to my co-workers why my hair was suddenly blonde, I told them that I would be dyeing it MOE Green that night, before I left for Florida. They all said that they'd sure like to see that, so I said that I would come in to work on Monday with MOE Green hair, but only if MOE won the competition.

As you all know, MOE did, so I kept my promise. You should have seen the faces of my co-workers (including the HR VP) when I arrived for a diversity team meeting on Monday morning! After I told my story and showed them the medal, they became interested in sponsoring a team about to start up at the high school near by.

So, all you other 50 year-olds out there, get with the program!
